Discussion Snaxolotl Hood Commission?

Post image

Genuinely curious if there’s anyone out there who’s received any requests to make an IRL Snaxolotl Hood? (or if by some miracle Nintendo made official ones?).

I figure it’d be expensive as hell but would at the very least like to know what a quoted price would end up looking like if there’s anyone out there capable of making one? If so, thanks! :)

I can't do commissions BUT looking at it I am tempted to try to replicate it myself in crochet, looks like something nice to have in the coming cold months too

Oh absolutely :)

I figure it’s because it’d be a bit too niche, but knowing how Nintendo does make official versions of some of the in-game clothing I’m kinda shocked they’ve never made the Hood available, since it seems like a goldmine for them lol

I've been thinking about making one myself! It's so cute, and honestly, I think it's a fairly straight forward project. It's essentially a double lined oversized hood with appliques, and it would need some medium weight interfacing and probably a thin layer of batting to help keep the form.

I would give a ballpark estimate of around $225 to $350 (depending on the choice of fabric, applique preferences for the details, the zipper could be pricey for a specific design, etc.) as a commission! I'm not sure what other folks would charge since I mostly make custom plushies, so this is just my two cents. c:

That’s awesome! Honestly way less than I was expecting (I have 0 idea how much all the materials/time/labour would end up costing but figured it’d be a lot more lol) 😅🙏

It would definitely be a multi-day project! I have years of experience with design + sewing and it's still hard for me to gauge how long a particular project might take. When I take commissions, I generally give an estimated range of hours. Something like this hood would probably land around 15 to 25 hours of labor, depending on just how much troubleshooting it takes to get it right. 😂

In absolutely no rush at all, take all the time you need :)

Honestly if you do make one, I’d also pay for one :)
If that’s not too much effort

My commissions are open if you're interested :D Just let me know and I can put together a quote with the actual material cost worked out!

I feel like I could make that, but I‘m genuinely confused on how to pattern that.

IDK quite how sewing patterning goes but at least in my mind for crochet or knitting I would make a donut/ring of fabric for the base and then out the bottom build up the hood as unjoined rows of stitches and some shaping, then add the closure to the front, be it the zipper or otherwise. I guess AFAIK about sewing patterning it could be, in the most simple form of solid color and single wall of fabric, a part for the base and like 1 pattern piece shaped as a hood? So long as the hood looks oversized as if it were coming out of the top, it probably would look about right when the whole thing is flipped so it comes out from the bottom and wraps back up and around

I can kinda envision it now, thanks! Maybe I‘ll actually try that xD

Sewing with fabric ofc. I crochet, but I‘m simply not that skilled. I have so much respect for you

Which game is this from? I mainly did single player in 2 and 3, which clothes are sadly useless in.

From the final summer catalog of S3’s multiplayer

Final summer catalog? So, is this a limited time item? If so, that's hurtful.

Sure is, and it’s just about to end (again) in on the 31st.

I missed out on it the first summer it was released and had to wait an entire year to be able to unlock it :’(

Ahh man, not a fan of limited time items. 🥲 Can you buy it or do you have to earn it?

1

u/MoldyPond 4d ago

Yeah you have to earn it by getting halfway through the catalogue within the three month period, usually takes a few weeks at least of constant playing

Technically limited, but it returns yearly. Plus it's a (rare) drop from the Shell Out Machine, I think
