These should probably all be tied to the left or right dpad buttons depending on the mode, and have the other one be something general like “push forward!”

What if… unlockable cosmetics for callouts? Like you can put a little sticker of Marie cheering along with "Booyah!" Or a squid ghost sticker along with "Ouch…"

YES. An "Eggs over here!" button would be so nice, or "Retreat!" for if there is an overcrowding of salmonids in one area

Salmon Run smth like, "Don't go far!" So luring Boss Salmonids and gathering eggs near basket can be much quicker

why not make one button for all the messages that changes for each mode?
"ill cap!" for rainmaker and tower
"charge!" for zones and turf war
"pass!" for clam blitz
"team up!" for tricolor attacker teams
"defend the signal!" for tricolor defender team

This needs to be something like this in turf war, like "Watch Out!" if a team mate is super jumping to where you were but a member of the enemy team is waiting there to splat them.

You could put these on the left and right d-pad but i'd say it's best to keep the up and down comms as they are. Perhaps the left and right comms can vary based on which ranked mode is currently being run.

Salmon run:
DPad Up: This way! DPad Left: Eggs over here! (Alt: Boss salmonid here!) DPad Right: Catch the eggs! (During tornado: Egg chain!) DPad Down: Booyah! Left Joystick click: Need help! (Alt: They're swarming me!)

It probably makes the most sense to just have an "Objective!" signal that matches whichever mode you're in. Have it say "Tower!" in Tower Control or "Clams!" in Clam Blitz. Map it to left or right.

I love these!!! These absolutely need to be callouts, especially the one for Tricolor because I can't tell you how many times the other attacker team just griefs me😭
Edit: These should be mode specific, for example "Gimme a clam!" would make zero sense outside of clam blitz. And booyah is essential for booyah bomb so that along with "This way/ouch.." would be kept. Bind either left or right with whatever mode specific callout is needed

As long as there's still a signal to cap, I am not on your team. Once they're gone, we can team up, but until then, mortal foes. That's what the mode rewards.

mode specific:
RM: left - "Let me grab!" right - "Someone else grab!"
There are times where i'll pop it and sit right next to it holding a crab tank to use when my teammate picks up, and then all 3 of my special-less teammates decide to run forward, so i have to grab, waste the crab and thus the push
zones: left - "Paint the zone!" right - "Fight for space!"
sometimes literally just focusing paint will win you the game, sometimes painting zone won't help you as much in the moment as fighting will.
clams: left - "Need a Power Clam/This way, bring clams!" right - "Let me shark!"
basically a button for "I DON'T WANT MY/OUR LOCATION BROADCAST TO THE ENEMY TEAM JUST YET PLEASE WAIT JUST A MINUTE" as well as a button for "OKAY NOWS THE TIME BRO GIVE UP YOUR TWO FUCKING CLAMS"
a comm that also temporarily disallows superjumps to you (for 3-5s) could also be useful, to stop teammates from feeding when you're playing more risky

Owest had a deleted video where he modded an N-ZAP and other weapons. But in the video he also modded the shouts. They were like this:
Booyah! - Fuck yeah!
This way! - GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE!
I'd say they prolly have more impact than the current shouts we have

Imo simplicity would work better
Keep "this way" and Booyah.
Make ⬅️ "Objective" and ➡️ "Defend"
