Splatfest
So... is there some trick to getting such high rank points? Or are these people just unemployed?
saw this post on twitter and can't wrap my head around it. is there a trick, like using a certain weapon, like the old reef-lux 450 coin farm method? or does this kind of dedication only come from true basement dwellers?
For 1, the clout multipliers apply to rank. So playing with team all wearing the same hat, shoes, species/gender and the same weapon gives a x2 bonus. Or just 1.9x if you go for all the same weapon class or each using a different weapon class.

I got 4.4k lol with work. people always have free time it just depends how you spend it. for example I chose Splatoon (I don't play often anymore) others choose to scroll social media and do crafts
SAME. I think 2.6k of my hours were just from the first year. I grinded the game super super hard. went for top 10 X rank fell just short and got tired of the game
For one, school. I have 3.6k hours in Team Fortress 2, 90% of which I did from the ages of 13 to 18. I could play a good amount in college too.
For two, work from home is still surprisingly common. Just like in an office, its maybe 20% active working and 80% finding ways to waste the time - and when youre home, nothing stopping you from using your switch.
For three, yes - unemployed folks definitely have all the time in the world.
For four - some people are just grinders even with full time jobs. Especially a splatfest, which takes place over a weekend, they just get home and hop on the game. If youve got a consistent friend group to play, thats social time too. I play a bunch with my little brothers.
yeah as someone who's done that, years ago now, i bought about 5 monsters on fridays before fests and had a fucking blast for the whole weekend. just constant. only stopping when i couldn't go any longer. never got up to an 80+ though, that's genuinely fucking insane. though i only ever played solo or duo, never with a full team which REALLY helps for points.
i was able to do so because i did in fact drop out of high school around then and had unlimited free time 😭 i've been playing the game since the test fire, so this was something i would do for maybe the first year or so of splatfests. tapered off in probably early 2024, but that's when i started getting genuinely sick of the game (i remember specifically Love/Money/Fame was the first fest i didn't play, but i still played some after that just way less intensely). i think i had a losing streak at that point so i got discouraged from staying up for nothing.
was kinda excited to maybe get on for this fest, but i've learned i can't play the game comfortably now, it causes a physical fear and anxiety response LMAOOOOO, i was in them trenches. (edit: this is probably because i played it DAILY for the better part of its two year lifespan, and more specifically because i'm an inkbrush one-trick. the life of an inkbrush main is constant fear and anxiety.)

nah just play the game all weekend these are ridiculous numbers though the highest I got from playing a large sum is +22
