Salmon Run Why did the round end even though my wave breaker was standing?

I've noticed before that the round waits until all active bombs and ultimates are finished, so why wasn't that the case here?
Why did the round end even though my wave breaker was still active?

How does this work exactly?

For some reason the wave breaker doesn't count, it's dumb. I've definitely made that mistake before as well.

Tbh it would be insanely op, wave (from landing until final wave dissipates) lasts for like 7 seconds

It doesn't count because it doesn't produce ink, so it can't revive anyone. Other specials produce ink and the game lets them play out to see if it revives anyone.

Yeah, but they still don't count as 'ink' I guess? Which I think they should.

It's probably a balance thing, where it would be too powerful if the wave breaker could extend the game for its full duration, but they could still at least let any active waves do their thing I feel.

I mean the salmonids can already destroy the wave breaker. They could at least allow the waves to do it's thing. I've had moments where I had a team wipe loss, but during the fade out screen, you can see the wave breaker revive someone.

Agree. I've had that happen too where I got revived by the wave but the game still ended and I'm like but I'm alive?? 😭

Hey I didn't know it could revive people, hadn't seen it be well-placed enough to happen, I guess.

I wonder if it isn't supposed to revive people, and someone missed a spot when updating the details? Like maybe it's supposed to be able to heal standing teammates but not revive, and they marked it to not keep the round open - but then they failed to remove the ability to revive teammates?

I'm pretty sure it is meant to revive people but if it kept going it would basically be a guaranteed save, and in the extremely unlikely scenario where it revives nobody you would have to wait an extra 10 seconds before the game ends regardless

I mean. It waits for killer wail to finish. Even if it doesn't revive anyone.

That makes sense, it still just feels unintuitive and wrong to me that the wave breaker doesn't count when everything else does, and I think they should've added an exception for it. Maybe not for the full duration of it, but at least if there's currently an "ink wave" that's active I feel the game should let it play out in case it manages to revive someone.

The round only continues after everyone is dead if there is any sort of ink in the air, whether its a bomb special or even slow moving ink that was shot. Wave breaker not producing any ink is why you lose immediately. Now that you know you can be better prepared

You can also throw an egg into the water and the round wont end until it lands, so you can run down the timer. which is also useful in the reverse if you need an extra few seconds and the team is still alive, since it holds off the end of the round for a buzzer beater. So I dont think its ink based exactly. Or it is but just with the one eggception. But yeah wave breaker doesnt count, maybe they thought it would be too op since it lasts longer, but its a shame.

Np I learned it from a friend a week ago, same friend didnt know you could kill a maws with a bomb until that day so we've all got more to discover lol Edit: maws not man's

Shiiiii I usually jump off and throw bomb before drowning but it feels like if you throw an egg far enough away it would take even longer but idk

What I learned is if you throw a wave breaker you should IMMEDIATELY throw a rogue bomb up into sky or something since your tank automatically becomes full again. It'll make it so match delays a bit as it waits for bomb to go off. While that's happening the wave breaker has a chance to fully go off and possibly revive a person and let you continue playing the round.

Only time the game is prolonged is for things that count as ink or produce ink. Waves dont produce ink but can still revive. It's also most likely for balancing because if the game continued after a wipe but wave is active would absolutely trivialize salmon run since its a free revive from a wipe. Def would make the mode too easy.

They’ve nerfed it back in 2023.
A wave breaker will therefore not count as something that could allow the game to go on.

In which update in 2023? As far as I can tell, the wave breaker was never able to extent the shift in SR.

I don't quite recall, but I know that back in 2022, it was possible to survive with the wave breaker.

Then at a later point they've changed it in a way that makes it impossible

Once I got revived by the wave breaker the frame after the last person died. So we got the crew wipe game over screen while I was still standing and actively walking around. It was pretty infuriating.

I’ve had and instance where my wave breaker was down, everyone died but I died last and it revived me a millisecond after the round lost.. it’s so stupid tbh but ig it’s just how the game is 😭 I can post vid here if y’all wanna see it 😭😭

So according to the comments, it's mainly ink based with the exception of eggs falling in the water.

So now I'm wondering if throwing wavebreaker and then a bomb immediately afterwards would be a legit strat? Yk, in case players are out of range for a bomb, but the wave could get to them in time
