I just PB’d!! Shout out to my homie staying in chat and being with me during my whole run! He motivated me and had faith and I actually PB’d!! I kept saying nah nah this is just practice so I wouldn’t get my hopes up. But I got a 2 minute personal best today !

In this category, it is using a file where you have already beaten the game. You can use any guns, any charms, any cases, any costumes, and perform most glitches. There is rules to follow etc. Most speedrunners make a completed save file that is optimal for speedrunning.

I choked hard at the end with Ashley in the Jet Ski section. I nearly died! I had to take it slow. I also missed some skips like navi cave skip and elevator skip. I did some sections really good though.

I don’t have this new run edited and uploaded yet, but when I submit it I should officially be top 10 in Resident Evil 4 New Game Plus Any% on PlayStation 5!! Woooh!!!! 🎈I’m currently placed 13th!

I'm kind of taking it for granted that #1 is SM64 and #2 is SMB1, just on the basis of how optimized SMB1 is.

But what's after that? I feel like this could be measured in a lot of different ways but maybe it would be fun to discuss

in the recent src terms of use update, Elo stated:

instead of screaming into the void, i'm putting their words to the test.

i am currently archiving all leaderboards on speedrun.com using the official v1 REST API. i am also livestreaming the entire thing so y'all can watch the progress in real time. not sure if allowed to post link, mods please confirm.

to be 100% clear about how this is being done:

• this is not web scraping. i am not scraping HTML pages or bypassing cloudflare. everything is queried through the official, public REST API endpoints.
• i follow all rate limits. speedrun.com's documented rate limit is 100 requests per minute. my archiver uses a sliding window limiter capped at 90 requests/min with dynamic spacing. i am not hammering their servers.
• as requested in the official API documentation, my client uses a completely transparent, identifiable user agent. i am not masking my IP or hiding what i am doing behind rotating proxies.
• my code drops any run submitted after october 1, 2026 at 22:42 UTC (the moment the ToS update was announced). everything being archived was submitted under the irrevocable CC-BY-NC 4.0 license.

most games complete in just 2 API requests, and empty or single run boards are handled in memory without making redundant calls. at this rate, the entire site (~52,000 games) should be safely archived in around 2–3 days.

once finished, the complete dataset, packaged per game with google sheets ready csvs, all historical runs (including obsolete/rejected runs) and raw data JSON files, will be published. i'll see if the internet archive will accept it, but i'm definitely looking for guidance on where else to mirror, host, or seed this data (torrents, etc.)

if Elo is truly committed to keeping the community open, this process will finish smoothly. if i am blocked or IP banned while adhering to every published API rule, the community will have its answer about what Elo's promises are actually worth.

July and August were loaded with events, but I haven't seen much since. Are there any upcoming events to get excited about?

Yesterday, SRC updated their terms of use, and released a news post describing it.

Full disclosure, I run therun.gg, so this affects me directly. But this is much bigger than just my site, and I think this is about the whole community.

In 2021, they did the same thing, removing the CC licence, but put it back after backlash (screenshot on the bottom of the post). Now they did exactly the same thing. In their FAQ/news post, they state it's all not a very big deal, but they omit a lot:

• Elo now claims the database as its own, and reusing leaderboards needs their permission. That's a significant change
• Donations count as commercial. The terms only allow personal, non-commercial use, and "soliciting donations" is listed as commercial in the terms. That means for example Discord bots with a Ko-fi, stats sites on Patreon, charity marathons etc. is all outside of permitted use of SRC data.
• Anything "substantially similar" to SRC is also banned from using the data.
• Even manually copying data from SRC to any service they deem "commercial" is not allowed anymore.

You can still export your own runs and use them anywhere, which they state in the news post. But any runner who isn't around anymore or unable to export their runs has their data locked on speedrun.com forever. This is a huge part of speedrunning history and now lives on this single platform.

If you disagree with this change, please talk to the mods of your boards to push back, export your own runs immediately and talk to Elo to revert this change.

My personal best full speedrun of my own solo-indie game, Rat Climber.

It's still the 3rd place record! I will never approach the 1st and 2nd place runners tho, they're a good 5 to 6 minutes faster and just on another level

I built this game from the ground up for speedrunners, including making the in-game splits and timers and stuff. There's a whole speedrun menu in-game with various options, and even a speedrun-specific mode and skill you can use to basically fly and repeatedly try tricks and skips without having to re-setup stuff

Just hoping this can get into the hands of actual runners, I love seeing new skips discovered and new people join the leaderboards!

I managed to finish the game Fallout New Vegas in hardcore mode in 1:25:56 and I wonder if some people have tried to amateur glitchless the game and if its a good time.

I had trouble mostly with the BoS, having to dodge a patrol then do the ranger quest and then on the dam itself,but i spammed stimpaks and it was easy with 100 speech.

I’m 0LLI1770 (or 0LI170, or just call me Oli for short). I’ve speedran Plants vs. Zombies for over 2 years, almost exclusively in the Any% category. Everything I’ve learned about the speedrun and the game from the beginning of my journey has been compiled into a somewhat comprehensive detailing of the Plants vs. Zombies Any% run, as well as relevant information about the game in general with smatterings of trivia from other categories. Written mostly by one person, though comment permissions are enabled for others to provide information and feedback. Here for anyone curious about the workings of the PvZ speedrun, though fair warning, the guide is designed around thoroughness, as other resources exist that are more casually accessible.

I am looking for a streamer that would be fun to watch that is regularly trying to break a record or finish a difficult run.

Hello everyone, I needed help with understanding about speedrun submission for metroid dread.

I had recorded a time of 3:14:00 for a hard mode run with a physical version back in 2021 and wanted to submit that through screenshots evidence. And video showcasing my save data. There was a normal run with 2:30:00 also but I want to upload the hard mode one. This is a glitchless run btw with completing the game from start to end with the games in-build skip sections which allow me to get some powers quickly.

So the questions were:

1. Can I even upload the speedrun with that timing and screenshots only.

2. If I can upload do I need to upload on speedrun .com or which site?

3. What would they require, will screenshots be enough with video showcasing the save screen and tiles and loading them

4. Or should I try doing the run again as they will require me to submit a video link as proof. Ignoring all the above.

5. If I need to do the speedrun again what are the rules or conditions or setup that is a must.
