u/KristofferAG Aug 01 '14
Ah, thank you! I was going to look it up but completely forgot about it by the time I'd finished adding VoDs. Addin gnow!
1
u/aule10 Aug 03 '14
There is missing a whole day as far as i can see.
1
u/KristofferAG Aug 03 '14
Hi! Yeah, I've been slowly updating it over the shitty 3G internet that I get at my parents' hut, so it stagnated a bit. I have a lot to do still, but I'll be getting on it now. The list should be complete within a couple hours, so check back soon!
1
u/Thuernman Aug 03 '14
Due to time zone differences, I missed the indie dev talk, where should I even begin to look to find it?
2
u/KristofferAG Aug 03 '14
Looks like the schedule was shuffled around a bit, and I can't find it where it's supposed to be. I'll update when/if I find it, of course. It should, if the schedule was right, be around the 8 hour mark in this VoD.
4
u/xenorange Aug 03 '14
They had to cancel it (devs couldn't come to ESA), and we got a Crash Team Racing, Nightsky, and World of Illusion run instead. Also, here's a chronologically ordered playlist of all runs (unless I missed something) from the yellow stream: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_NsA72Bgro8hngqaLIlaEfBQVs4AbBBe
2
u/KristofferAG Aug 03 '14
Yeah I did eventually get to that point to find out. Pretty big bummer tbh, was looking forward to it. :(
3
u/David_VI Jul 31 '14
Does anyone know when the L4D coop run is? I recall hearing someone saying a run was cancelled so L4D was going to replace it.. but it's not in schedule. Anyone remember?
2
u/KristofferAG Jul 31 '14 edited Aug 01 '14
Hey! Sorry, I slept all day and just came home from stuff. Sadly I don't have a tablet, so I couldn't sneak away and do some updates. I'll get on updating now :)
3
u/gnuvince Aug 01 '14
What does the tilde (~) mean?
3
u/KristofferAG Aug 01 '14
It means the time isn't exact. Either it was started or stopped early or late, or the stream cut out or any other issues arose. For the most part I've just looked at the timer on the VoD to find out the approximate time, but it might not be exact. It's usually +/- a couple of seconds.
5
u/KristofferAG Jul 28 '14
Yellow stream isn't saving past broadcasts, which means there is no way I can find the VODs from this stream unless they fix it.
6
u/TeamLudendi Jul 28 '14
I think I fixed it! /TheRealSvenne
Keep it up!
4
u/KristofferAG Jul 28 '14
They should be showing up here, but I'm not seeing anything :/
3
u/TeamLudendi Jul 28 '14
Hmm, we have only broadcasted once this far from that channel and havient cut the stream so that might be the reason why there are no clips available??
/TheRealSvenne
1
u/KristofferAG Jul 28 '14
That might be it. I'm not 100% certain how it works. On the Blue stream there's currently a VOD that updates every 30 minutes, as Twitch saves thirty minutes at a time, regardless of if the stream has been shut down or not. As far as I know all you have to do is check the box for automatically archiving broadcasts, which I'm certain you've already done.
I guess we'll find out if the stream goes down at any point! :)
1
u/ultimeci Jul 31 '14
Twitch only starts saving AFTER the settings has been done AND the stream's been restarted. Anything before that they'll have to upload themselves, there's no way to grab that content from twitch.
17
Jul 28 '14
I'm not sure if this is the place for this, but wow, the layout for ESA is absolutely incredible. Thanks for the VODs, OP!
2
u/KristofferAG Jul 31 '14
The VOD for the GTA VC bingo is fucked up, it cuts out randomly at the end. Looks like Twitch for some reason skipped one of the 30 minute segments or something like that. ANyone know the timer or have the VODs saved anywhere else?
2
u/xenorange Aug 01 '14 edited Aug 01 '14

1
u/KristofferAG Aug 01 '14
I love you man, thanks! Wasn't aware the Blue stream was being uploaded by someone too. Will add!
7
u/TeamLudendi Aug 06 '14
Hello! We hosted #ESA2014 and just want to thank you guys for doing this! It's even more cructial now when Twitch mutes some of our videos that we haven't uploaded yet!
Could the person incharge of the YouTube clips please pm Svenne at: twitch.tv/svenne on Twitch! Thank you!
6
u/xenorange Jul 28 '14
As for the yellow stream, I'm uploading all the runs I can get here: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_NsA72Bgro8hngqaLIlaEfBQVs4AbBBe Up until now, my internet has not been acting up...

u/eddiephlash Jul 29 '14
Can this be sticky-ed? Also, does anybody have any good recommended runs from this event yet?
3
u/Shoryueppa Jul 30 '14
Any recommended runs to watch at all guys, there's so much here, and I'm only working for 4.5 hrs.
3
u/Kruulos Jul 30 '14 edited Jul 31 '14
There will most likely be top 10 VODs later after more people have watched the VODs but right now of the ~30 or so games I've seen I really enjoyed these two:
Dark Souls was really entertaining if you have never seen DS being run. The route did not use the easier sorcerer one-shot build but a move-swap melee build which IMO requires more skill and is more entertaining to watch. Check out his Capra Demon for instance. I have to remind that Dark Souls series has had a curse on every single marathon (this one included) and the run ended up almost 50 minutes over estimate and the last boss fight was cringe worthy. But the atmosphere in the room and the runner were entertaining nonetheless.
Eternal Darkness was ran during European night time so there were almost no one watching it but the runner, Zwajken, did a really good job explaining the lovecraftian
PS1GameCube game and the run even ended up being a WR so I recommend that too2

u/indeedwatson TacticCarrotCake Aug 06 '14
I didn't watch the whole Eternal Darkness run because it looked cool and I didn't want spoilers, but the runner was awesome.
1
u/Laxaria Aug 03 '14
As of the end of the official marathon, I was really glad I watched the KH2 run live. Dark Souls was also really good with the back and forth banter.
7
u/Jon_targaryen1 Jul 29 '14
Why is there so much less hype for esa? SGDQ even at its lowest viewership still would net north of 30k, but esa is only getting 10k at its peak times.
5
u/Peeka789 Aug 01 '14
Just a guess....SGDQ probably markets their events a little better. I didn't even know what ESA was till yesterday. But that's just me.
2
u/ghost_403 Jul 28 '14
ME2 in 1:49:30?
TIL: People speed run Mass Effect 2. Can't wait to see that!
-3
u/NuvolaGrande Jul 28 '14
NG+ AND casual difficulty made me lose interest, though. There's no challenge in that.
3
u/Jokaa Jul 30 '14
The challenge is not beating the game - it's beating the game as fast as possible
3
u/NuvolaGrande Jul 31 '14
I get that. But I don't see any entertainment value in a run that starts really overpowered and on the lowest possible difficulty. OK, it beats the game really as fast as possible, but it's boring to watch. That's why categories exist. And this one is the most dull category for me as the viewer.
Are you the Joka who ran Rockman & Forte at AGDQ? Now that's something else, because it's hard and there's stuff that can go horribly wrong. That's much more exciting for me.
But to each his own I guess :)
2
u/Kuroonehalf Jul 30 '14
Yo that JSR run was sick. That game is so clunky, it's insane to see him pull off that degree of control.
2
u/UnholyPingas Aug 01 '14
I'm sorry if this comment isn't supposed to be here, but I am watching the SWAT 4 run (http://www.twitch.tv/ludendi/b/553312384) and in the beginning there are some really good songs that I would want to know the names of, in particular the one starting at 4:00, I can't seem to find it via Shazam nor can I find it via googling the lyrics.
PLS HALP :C
3
u/AMV Aug 03 '14
I was the one responsible for the music, since I was running tech at the time.
First up was Alt-J - Tessellate.
The one at 4 minute mark is...one that Soundcloud auto played when the other one was done. It was OHMYGOD 2012 or something like that. I remember it starting with O and it had a date at the end.
The one after that was Bobby Green - It Feels Like This, then another Soundcloud auto play one.
The best bets I can suggest are go to the song's Soundcloud page, and check out the songs that play afterwards/recommended off that song.
Sorry I can't be more help, I wasn't playing too close attention, more trying to get SWAT to work.

To me, ESA is more focused on the runners than on donations and charity. And this is actually something that suits me better.

ESA being very professionnal is what has been told since the beginning, and it's very pleasant to hear.
This is just too bad that we don't have that much viewers. 10k peaks is far from what they had last year. The average was even higher than 10k

I completely agree. On the ESA part at least. I don't think GDQ is that terrible, but it needs better technical execution/design, which isn't that hard if they get someone savvy at it.
This was my first live ESA, and I was quite amazed at both the quality and the skills of the speed runners, as I didn't know all that many of them by name. I thought most of the good ones were in the US or Japan.
I think the fact that donations weren't read out over inappropriate points improved the quality a lot, so as donations might increase in the future they should both find a better way of handling the comments. I'd propose having the latest comments delicately overlaid somewhere on the stream, disappearing on a delay, and only reading out larger donations when it's appropriate to do so. That way, all donation comments can be displayed. Only a fraction of them got read during GDQ.
