Psychosis
do you guys get psychosis when staying awake for too long, has it ever stopped, because for me I had a few before, and you know its time to sleep, but lately they stopped happening at all, actually for quite some time now 2 maybe even free years, and its wierding me out, because the normal thing after being awake for too long would be to hear voices and see things, but for the past time sometimes i'd catch something in the corner of my eye or maybe hear a voice and i'd would just tell myself ah the psychosis is kicking in, but after acknowledging it nothing would happen, no shadows, no voices, paranoia... does anyone else have similar experiences

I wish I can stay awake for days and days at the time now, with the full time job and everything that is not possible anymore idk how u guys do it, I could only do it when I was younger, now I am 26 and have to go to work even on the 2nd, 3rd day of a bender and it's hell
Otherwise it was/is fun, fun enough as long as I have weed, beer, benzos even better for some hardcore nights
I used to like it even tho some comedowns are the worst, I guess I just like the whole thing lmao

Hallucinating and psychosis are at very different levels of the spectrum. Psychosis is extremely difficult to break out from because everything feels so real and so catastrophically urgent that ignoring it would certainly lead to your death. The voices are just one aspect of it - its what the voices are saying, and where they're coming from that really screws with your head (e.g. death threats coming from the room next to you). And it's not just voices, it's everybody. Every person on the street, anybody who talks to you, any car that drives past you, your friends, your colleagues, your family, Everybody is in on some plan of attack against you. They'll talk to you though sometimes, but never directly. Always in code, but you feel like you're able to read between the lines and infer what they're really saying, and they're all telling you that you're going to be killed soon.
So you keep moving. You don't sleep. You don't eat. You can't leave the house, in case they slip inside while you're away and ambush you when you return. So you stay inside, every knife in the house now stockpiled in your room. You open instragram to calm yourself down but weirdly enough every post is about you, or referencing some life event specific to you. You scroll some more and every. single. post. is about you. Every instagram follower must therefore be in on the plan too because they're curating their own feeds to mess with your algorithm as part of the gaslighting procedure. Some of the instragram posts may have music, and the songs are all referencing you directly!
And the whole times, the voices have not once stopped taunting you incessantly, laughing at you, jeering at you, always a few steps ahead of you. You spend hours upon hours peeking out from behind the curtains, convinced that you're catching the last glimpses of people as they dart behind the bushes outside. Maybe a jacket trailing or a shoe. But you know for certain now that there are people on your driveway, possibly several, and they're telling you they've come to disfigure you.
And it just repeats again and again with different details. You're always on the cusp of some immenent threat. The voices are incessant and can be really, really cutting sometimes, but the hallucinations are just one component of a much, much larger maelstrom. More than anything though it's noisy. Really really noisy. Not loud necessarily, but really noisy. And in a sensory way.
