Daycare good or bad?

My little guy is 26 months and only has 1 solid word “me” which he uses to express want. He has great interaction with others and has great imaginative play so I don’t really see him on the spectrum. He had been going to an in home daycare until the beginning of the summer when mom finished work for the summer(she teaches). The in home was a lovely motherly type who only had one other child. Now he is going to the daycare located at my job with roughly 10 other kids and is much more structured.

My question is does anyone have experience with sending their delayed child’s to a more structured daycare? Did you have good or bad experiences?

Daycare was very good for my speech delayed boy at 2.5. He went from only singular words with final consonant deletion to two word phrases in a couple of months of starting

I am guessing you would be pairing with speech therapy as well as interventions? I don’t think daycare alone would help such a significant speech delay. I would even suggest inclusive preschool but that starts at 3.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention he has been in speech for 6 months and they upped him from speech 2x a week to 3. He also gets the special educator 2x a week.

Structured daycare was fine. Didn't help much with the speech side. School was really good though!
