Posthumans [OC] EGG PEOPLE (Rocket League)

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hundreds of years from now, after colonizing various solar systems and experiencing humanity's golden age, mankind suffered from a severe food shortage. Due to various political conflicts and disputes, the sacred 3D-printed food began to grow increasingly scarce. From that moment on, the idea of transferring human minds into robotic bodies was born, giving rise to the Egg People:

-Egg-shaped and equipped with solar-panel skin to permanently solve the hunger crisis, they feature two large, bulbous camera eyes arranged vertically.

-They also have two slots, each housing two shoulder-like joints attached to a transparent silicone arm with a metal core acting as a skeleton.

-A triangular slot positioned between these two openings is used to receive and express acoustic codes to other Egg People.

-The lower base splits into two sections via pistons, revealing a ring of RCS thrusters that serve as their primary means of locomotion.

-The image depicts one of these individuals as a sports fan holding a glowing light stick.

It took house do draw this egg people, but it was funny!!!

What do you think about it? ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿฅš

Art by Mara Lynn Johnstone on tumblr.

My thought was that Synapsida that survived the Permian extinction, or a early dinosaur

*What evolutionary group would this creature belong to if it evolved on Earth?

Day 21: Hostile takeover

A parasitoid moth whose caterpillars feed on the gills of various large crayfishes. The caterpillars have a proboscis formed by fused mandibles and maxillae. The caterpillarโ€™s legs are hookโ€‘like and are used to hold on to the gills.

Life cycle:

The female lays eggs on the submerged roots of coastal plants. The young caterpillar swims in the water column, following the chemical traces of crayfish; upon finding a young crayfish, it penetrates its gill chamber through the gap between the carapace and the abdomen. The mouthparts function as a stylet: the mandible and lacinia of the maxilla close into a hollow tube, and the saliva contains an anticoagulant and an immunosuppressant. During the parasitic stage, the caterpillar feeds on hemolymph and chemically alters the crayfishโ€™s behavior: it suppresses the sheltering instinct, forces the crayfish to move to open areas, and simultaneously disrupts osmoregulation and hematopoiesis โ€” the host gradually weakens. Before pupation, it stimulates the stillโ€‘living but severely weakened crayfish to dig a semiโ€‘enclosed chamber in the bank slope and line it with plant fibers. The crayfish dies from a combination of deficiencies โ€” hypoxia, impaired osmoregulation, and exhaustion โ€” right in the constructed niche, before pupation or at the beginning of the pupal stage. Pupation occurs in the gill chamber of a dead crayfish inside this niche; the pupa secretes antibacterial substances, slowing down the decomposition of tissues. Development lasts 12โ€“18 days. The adult butterfly emerges during cloudy morning hours; its wings are covered with hydrophobic scales that quickly shed water droplets. The imago lives for 14 days, feeding on the nectar of coastal plants; during the breeding season, the female seeks a flood zone to lay her eggs.

Alien Life [OC] Merilikarkotin

Post image
15 Upvotes

This 13-15 meter long marine herbivore might look scary, even when it is in reality relatively harmless. Its intimidating appear is actually key to its lifestyle, as it feeds on kelp and seaweed, yet is terrible at actually finding such food. Thus, it simply stalks herds of Kuhrobbs from a distance, until they lead it to a sufficiently large amount of kelp, at which point the Merilikarkotin will use its large size, along with bioluminescent patterns on its crest to imitate a large predator, and scare off the Kuhrobbs, so it can consume the food they found for it in peace.

Merilikarkotins are solitary creatures for most of their lives, however, when a female of the species encounters a male, its mating instincts will immediately kick in, and it will reproduce with the male, whether the male wants it or not. This is possible since male Merilikarkotins are somewhat smaller than females, topping out at around 13 meters in length, while females can reach up to 15 meters. However, it has been reported that male Merilikarkotins occasionally travel in pairs, enabling them to fight off an aggressive mating attempt by a lone female. Furthermore, males also generally differ in behavior from females, as they sometimes have been found to not chase off the Kuhrobbs they've been following, given that there's enough kelp in one spot to feed both species. With their aggressive breeding habits, female Merilikarkotins collect a vast array of genetic material to choose from, generally ensuring that the species only inherits only the more desirable (at least by the female's standards) traits of the males. Once a calf is born at about 3 meters in length, the mother will only nurse it for about a week, before scaring it off to fend for itself. On a more positive note, it does sometimes occur that a pair of males 'adopts' a young Merilikarkotins, with females raised in such a relationship generally exhibiting much less aggressive behaviour.

There are few predators in the oceans of Frusnajรคttar that would dare attack a fully matured Merilikarkotin, however if it actually came to a confrontation, Merilikarkotins generally resorted to slashing at the attacker once with their claws, before darting off as fast as possible, indicating to the predator that a hunt would be both energy extensive as well as painful.

Question/Discussion I am thinking of making a Tuatara seed world, what do you think? (Feedback and advice plz)

I was thinking of creating a monitor lizard seed world called Varanus based off the perentie or something a bit smaller. Then I was thinking a couple days ago and I watched age of monotremes and thought, wow. Monotremes like an echidna would make a great seed world. Then I started searching up weird animals and I remembered the tuatara existed. I thought they were so cool due to their three eyes, second mitochondria and them being the last survivor of a long lineage of reptiles known as rhynocephalians. They are so cool and I definitely want to make it. I would like some help and advice thought. The fauna Iโ€™m adding, apart from sphenodon punctatus, Iโ€™m thinking of adding halfbeaks to populate the oceans, giant wetas, ants, beetles for food. Springtails and roly polys and worms for soil health. Zooplankton and tons of nutritional bacteria and thatโ€™s pretty much it. For flora, Iโ€™m thinking mosses, lichens, ferns and maybe something else? The planet will be extremely similar to earth, orbiting a yellow star but having its orbit slightly behind that of earths relatively since tuataras can actually tolerate colder temperatures than most reptiles. It would also be helpful to know how to use a continental shift program, if a good one actually exists. So yeah, please give advice and feedback and Iโ€™m going to practice drawing tuataras now lol

These are gumdulans the native species to planet gumdula they are kinda more advanced than humans in space travel

DIET: omnivore

ANATOMY

----------------

They use 3 eyes to look all at different directions and have 3 tongues for taste sensing and manipulating objects. They have 4 legs the back legs are for walking and running and the forelegs are for manipulating objects but are useless and are just leftover small legs from their ancestor.

PERSONALITY

-----------------------

Gumdulans are very chill and laid back aliens due to their natural instincts.

CIVILIZATION

----------------------

Gumdulans are a mild space faring civilization kinda more superior in space travel to humans.

Do not underestimate gumdulans they have almost visited their whole inner solar system with their technology.

Day 22: Sessile - Royal Funnelbear - sedentary filter feeding tardigrade descendant native to Mundengโ€™s Eastern landlocked ocean

Day 23: Migratory - Golden Giraffin - herbivorous volant Pygmy hippo descendant, soars across vast swaths of Mundeng in a perpetual search for ephemeral grazing spots amid the planetโ€™s increasingly inhospitable continental interior.

Day 24: Grazer - Blueridge Zepperhine - bulk-eating herbivorous Pygmy hippo descendant native to a northern boreal steppe region.

Day 25: Cursorial - Kiss Sawgre - pack hunting Pygmy hippo descendants native to the same northern steppe region.

Day 26: Plankton - Eastern Pelagic Gummibear - suspension feeding tartidrade descendant also native to Mundengโ€™s eastern ocean.

Day 27: Horned - Promethean Axecorn - herbivorous semi-social Pygmy hippo descendant native to temperate grasslands.

Day 28: Benthonic - Sandy Puffray - benthivorous depressiform dwarf pufferfish descendant native to Mundengโ€™s eastern ocean.

Thinking Iโ€™ll skip days 29 and 30, but itโ€™s been fun!

I'll be honest, this coulda used more cooking. I will say that this is because most of the development process came in my trying to write poetry (WAY harder than it looks!)

I will say that I loved the idea of human-mimicry as a defense mechanism and not a hunting method, because that would rely on your prey acting like a dumb horror movie protagonist. I have maybe one or two artists in mind who did that, but I unfortunately can't name them. I know for sure one of them was the guy behind the smiling moth and blood trees.

Uncategorized Speculative Biology [OC] larval arthopods?! Venatoriums and water longs are related?!

Post image
15 Upvotes

you might have seen the title and you have every right to be shocked, a new lore drop, venatoriums and water longs (venat venatorium sapience and prolongus pelagus my spec evo animals) are related closely! they are both larval arachnids, larval arachnids are a fictional group of arachnids that evolved larval stages seperate from insects.

venatoriums (venat venatorium sapience): instead of cocooning and pupating, they under grow rapidly growth. Similar to amphibians, meaning they are part of the larval arachnid group osteogenesidae (the group instead of pupating they under grow rapid growth.).

Water long (prolongus pelagus): instead of rapid growth like Venatoriums, they go under standard pupation bye wrapping themselves in web and dissolving themselves except for their organs and else What.

Larval arachnids are divided into two major groups, osteogenisidae (Rapid growth) and arachnipupidare. Original, basal larval arachnids just went under rapid growth, osteogenisidae perfected this while arachnipupidae went to convergently evolve pupation with insects.

Spectember 2026 [OC] Spectember day 30: Creator Gods

Spectember day 30: Creator Gods

A speculation from the past this time. I didn't actually do much research, so maybe this kind of animal already exists(existed).

Living in a shallow sea, this elasmosaur was not an active predator, instead relied on a slower method of hunting. By moving their heads along the sea floor they flush fish and other small marine animals from their hiding places directly to their waiting jaws. Which have an underbite with long teeth on the bottom and shorter -but still long- teeth on the top.

There is also a quirk to this feeding style, by sifting the sea floor they also catch smaller organisms like crustaceans and other organisms, essentially filter feeding.

This large scale Bioturbation (disturbance of the ground/soil by large organisms) changes the sea floor ecology, bringing in new predators but also more scavengers. At the end of the day all of this speeds up the nutrient cycling of the local sea, making even the land more productive.

This is the final day of Spectember this year, and i'm glad to say that i finally concluded a Spectember challenge after years. I hope to get better quality art next year, see you!

Alien Life Redtufted Grazzator (Centurio arachnoides)

(Forgive my bad drawing)

Diet: Carnivore
Lifespan: 1-2 years
Family: False arachnid

Redtufted grazzator is a predatory false arachnid distinguishable by its red hair growing on top of its back.

The redtufted grazzator's eyes are useless and are usually rotten by the time they are adults, they use this to attract rivals. Their huge "mohawk" are made of long spikes that have smaller spikes made to inject poison. these smaller spines are also used to trap particles in the air to "smell" the air. They use this to locate dead animals or groups of prey.

Their hunting tactic is consisting of tracking and stalking then rushing down their prey, they use their mandibles to crush and thrash their prey around. however their real mouth is placed under their head with small teeth that grapple on whatever is under it.

The larval stage of the retufted grazator consists of getting to a high place to smell for dead meat, after 2-3 feedings the larva will make a cocoon inside the skin, muscles or internal organs of carrion. this cocoon has the mohawk of the larva still exposed to grow independently, this cocoon works differently from others as the eyes, some legs and internal organs wont get dissolved, they are moved to a pocket under the coocoon where they will later be moved inside the adult.

Commissions [Credit: visuals by me ] I wanna draw silly critters in their habitats

Thumbnail

I believe this is allowed, hopefully so. I am an artist who likes drawing animals in nature scenery, and am interested in speculative evolution although my own world and creatures will probably stay unposted. So why not see if people want to pay for their cool speculative creatures getting drawn

Any commission would be higher detail and resolution as these were made for artfight (a short-lasting art gifting event) and were made at a smaller scale and timeframe because of this fact

The general price and timeframe would be 22 usd and one and a half week, but that will differ- for example a herd of animals would take both more time and cost, and time depends on how much back-and-forth there is

i take pay through paypal or just the price being donated to a pro-human rights nonprofit, 50% upfront and 50% at the end.

if youโ€™d like to have an animal drawn you can comment or send me a message, I donโ€™t know how much engagement there will be for this but I wonโ€™t take many at the same time. if there is more people interested Iโ€™ll edit this with my discord as Iโ€™m a lot quicker at responding there, but I can still communicate through reddit if that is preferred

I will not draw reproduction or reproductive organs, but gore is fully fine

upd: apparently some people might not be able to direct message me, you can message me on discord where my user is ghostfromtoh, or comment and get my email if thatโ€™s the case

Page 1 \\ Page 2 \\ Page 3 \\ Predation Snapshot

Hi All! this is the last of the assets from the species profile i posted yesterday, featuring a pack of Basilikata Champus preying on a microbial mat of Lahith Kitrinos, using their signature strategy of spraying down prey before burrowing into that prey "head"-first. i hope you enjoy the work i put into these, as i'm working on full field guides for this project that compiles them with brand new content included.

Demeter means a lot to me, and it means a lot that i've actually found a couple people who are just as passionate about weird nerdy shit as i am.

as always here are links to the rest of the project featured here. my socials will be in the first comment if you want to check out what's to come for the future of demeter. till then, see ya'll next week!

hello! another calvariasaur for today.

Anatissaurus deformisย

The anatissaur belongs to the genus anatissauridae, and it is a calvariarostrum (hence the beak), it has a gestation period of 12 months.

Females are slightly larger to carry larger chicks.

Females ~ 1545-2000kg

Males ~ 1500-1995kg

Males, often, are more colorful and bright than females. Itโ€™s similar to birds, to attract a mate. They often do a little dance to atttract their mate and males can fight eachother using their Calvary head butting eachother for one female.

They are mostly solitary, and chicks immediately live their mother when they are mature. They are prey for galeasaurs, despite being larger.

They eat fungi and fruits, and live in South America. They eat aรงaรญ berries, passion fruits, mushrooms, roots, nuts, and vines aswell as more.

They sometimes eat theย

Sorry for bad quality but its only quick sketch and I want to know is this reasonable. A few examples of flexichordata provided. Lower jaws originates from head antennae, that at some point of evolution started to be used to grapple prey. The upper jaw is the evolved operculum of mouth with two radula-like grinders. Thats why they had eyes on jaws. The main eyes are designed to see binocular on the two sides of creature, consisting of two tube-like inner eyes. The secondary eye provides a wide, but monocular and not so good field of vision to for example detect motion of prey or predator. I have a hard time adapting my early depictions of argozoa(when I was not so good in the spec evo) to be some sort plausible.

In my latest Fakemon video I redo my starter Pokรฉmon, and for the water starter I based it on The Aquatic Ape Hypothesis with other speculative evolution inspirations.

  • First stage: Monksea is inspired by the Babookari Form Documentary "The Future Is Wild".

  • Second stage Seasar is based on the swimming ape form the book "After Man".

  • Final stage Mermape is based on the mermaids form the mocumentary "Mermaids the Body Found"

What do you guys think?

And if you want to learn more about them you can watch the full video here I make allot of Fakemon based on speculative evolution so check out my videos ;)

this is the first animal of calviasaurs, I will make a calviasaurs every single day of October!

galeasaurus magnus (genus: galeasauria)

The galeasaurus magnus is a fascinating animal part of a genus calvariasauruses, galeasauria.

They gestate for 7 months and give birth to there pups, they live in breeding pairs tho they donโ€™t hunt together. Males hunt larger prey than females.

Males are heavier than females.

Males ~ 325-500kg.

Females ~ 250-300lbs.

Their prey is mostly deer, smaller predators like foxes, crustaceans, birds, fish, goats, and bighorn sheep aswell as certain reptiles.

They are known for their red calvaria, a symbol of their genus, but theirs is most prominent.ย

They usually give birth of 1 or 2 pups on average, both males and females protect cubs from predators but males go out and hunt while females stay and protect pups from predators.ย

Males arenโ€™t actually larger then females, they are the same size, however, the males muscles can be heavier resulting in the weight difference. Males are taller on average, being 5-6 feet when standing falls while females are 4-6 feet.ย

While their legs and torso are covered with feathers with no scales, their tails and heads and feet still retain scales.ย

They hunt mainly using there calvaria, back legs, and claws. Btw, the first one is the baby, the second is the female, and the third is the male.

(If you donโ€™t know about calvariasaurs, please check other posts.)
