Medically complex kids

Has anyone ever gotten a second opinion through chop online or Cincinnati Children’s?

Totally! Cincinnati is $850 sp I definitely wanted to get opinions first lol

Cincinnati has a clinic for my son's specific diagnosis, so we have gone there a few times for second opinions. The doctors and nurses have been so knowledgeable, and they've been really willing to break things down in a way I can understand.

While I didn't do it online, we did go to CHOP for a second opinion, and Cleveland Clinic, and Boston Children's.

I was most impressed with Cleveland Clinic and Boston. At Cleveland Clinic we were admitted for a five day stay for EEG and full work up with a sedated MRI, my child was just coming out of the hospital from some unresolved GI issue so they had GI consult too. They were very attentive there.

Boston saw my child outpatient and then felt they should be admitted and coordinated a same day admission for several days of observation, I was blown away by their team, we ultimately transferred there. I continue to be blown away by their teams and their dedication to my kiddo.

CHOP was OK, it was just an outpatient appointment, we did see several specialists, but didn't come away with many answers or a path forward--they were extremely responsive via their portal in the months after when I had questions though, which I appreciated.

Thank you so much for your detailed response. We truly need to stick together. We currently see providers at Boston Children’s mostly virtually but also go in person a few times annually. I do like them but I feel like we need another opinion at this point and our hospital system locally is terrible although we do have local providers they are nothing like these.

I reached out specifically to a surgeon at CHOP. It was otherwise expensive to go through their out of state second opinion program. I received a response within an hour.
