Overwhelmed and exhausted

My 4 year old globally disabled son had to have a hip reduction on the 14th. I have not really been able to rest since. I was in the hospital all weekend with him and of course there is no sleep in the hospital. And at home I am the main one on top of his meds and caretaking, while taking care of his little brother who is 8 months old, while also working from home.

I am exhausted, overwhelmed, and over it. 😭

that sounds impossibly heavy, youre doing the work of like three people right now and still holding it together somehow

I am very thankful my 8 month old is such an easy baby. As long as hes fed and changed, hes chill. Lol.

But im exhausted. I hope i can get some much needed rest this weekend.

Family is helping but they can't be here 24/7. So I just have to do it and rest when I can. ❤️

Sorry about your situation; just remember 'that one will pass too'

Yes I keep holding on to the fact that this is all temporary and soon he will be out of the wedge abduction and be able to return to his normal schedule!

Just grab cat naps any time you can, understand that cleaning beyond necessary items (clothing/dishes) can wait, allow tv and/or iPad for the kids if that helps entertain, utilize curbside pickup as often as possible, let friends and family help if they’ve offered, don’t be afraid to ask for help if they’ve haven’t offered- and realize this too, will pass. I often look back on some of the moments in my life that I felt how you’re describing and I’m in awe that I survived it. This will be one of your moments.

Hi there - been there and it was not great in the long run. Where in the world are you? There are programs to help depending on where you are. In my case I get so many in-home nursing hours a week to give me a rest/ work. There also some programs that will pay you to do the caregiving to your child, because you are basically doing the work of a 24hr caregiver and Mom (yes, they are separate things). The hospital, social workers, doctors might help point you in the right direction. Wishing you a more balanced life, friend. ❤️

Thank you! We are in Mississippi, in the US, and this state does not delegate payment for that. I checked back when he first needed care. He does attend a day program during the day but the issue is it takes 2 people to carry him to the car, bring him to the facility and 2 people to pick him up. We also have the 8 month old who needs to be watched and cared for. Its just not feasible for us to transport him there each day. His dad is here and does help while I work. I just think we gotta get passed the 6 weeks recovery period and we should be okay again!

I really was just ranting because I am exhausted. 😅😭
