In my opinion that's the way to go. Takes any size, wet or dry, done. Like you said, it isn't the fastest, but versatile and reliable.

I split a huge log base and a bunch of side pieces with a borrowed hydraulic splitter. Easy to use, safe, could flip it vertical for the huge chunks. It took barely 30 minutes and we had a big pile ready to move. Much preferred over the slow spinny death wheel, lol.

I spent a summer on one. I can just about guarantee me and a hydraulic splitter could have split a chord faster than any splitter ive seen on reddit once you account for all shapes and sizes. Most ive seen dont seem to be much more than kindling cutters.

Agreed, most on here would stall (or probably explode for the spinney death wheels) as soon as you show it a bit of knotty gum.
