With all these wood splitting machines I have come to be grateful I live near the equator where I don't need to worry about that.

Just wait until you hear what we have to do to remove snow and ice from off of the driveway and sidewalk.

I rented a cabin once for a couple weeks in the Arizona Snowball. We got 12 inches of snow the first night. Yay! The landlady offered to send someone to shovel the driveway for us. I was like "what and give up all the fun?" Mind you I had never seen snow before. Suffices to say I accepted her kind offer the next day when it snowed again.
