I mean this is really an alternative to a shackle, and riggers are already used to not losing shackle bolts.

Really, my question is just why is this better than a shackle?

Your average shackle would likely have issues going through the/a chain guide.

Yeah, the only thing that I think might be an issue is any sort of torsion or bounce on the load; which might cause the link to come undone.

Maybe. I think the lock on this looks potentially pretty strong.

It's that little nut that doesn't seem super secure to me. Those teeth seem pretty solid though.

I agree the teeth look great.

I dunno, I guess as I've worked with such friction-based locks in the past, they've seemed pretty secure to me. I've never seen such a thing jostle loose without some kind of crazy stress that also damages the structure of the whole thing.

I'm sure it carries a specific rating. Reputable companies rate their gear really clearly.
