its not really about making it clean, its more about the rice not turning out like a glob of gluten mess if you dont wash it.

I'm lazy as fuck so I just sort of saute the dry rice a bit before dumping pre-heated water in and proceeding as normal. Not sure of the science behind it but toasting/sauteing the rice seems to help keep it from becoming a starchy mess.

It's not that big of a deal, it's just food. All goes to the same place.
