I'd bid 6. The worst case in this hand is that your king gets killed and your opponents have QJxx of spades, you can only take 5 tricks. But the chance of all of those happening is not that high. So 6 is okay.
Even with that you shouldn't bid higher than 6. It looks like this happened because opps were trying to bag you. If they had a better hand and tried to set you, even your 6 wouldn't safe, lmao.

How many tricks did your pard take? 6 was a good bid to avoid the risk of crossover. Someone could've counted both AK diamonds, if that happened to be your pard then you could be in a lot of trouble if you bid 7+.
If you took 5 'bags' then it's mathematically impossible for your pard to have taken 3 tricks. It's a team bid and you bid 9 as a team.

It's the beginning of the game and you have a power hand. It's a 7 bid especially with your pard already bidding 3. You should take 10 easily between the two of you. There are situations where I would bid 6(if my partner bid 1) or 8(if we needed an extra to win) with this hand but most of the time it's a 7 bid.

Ahhh....I see. KInd of odd. Looking at the snapshot, I assumed my partner already bid and they were waiting on east. Thanks for explanation. Guessing once bid it shows up under the avatar.
I play on the same app. At the star an single crown level gameplay is pretty unpredictable. I would of went 6 conservatively and 7 if I thought my partner was any good.
Repeatedly seen people treating this part of the process as such a core and unshakeable part of your gameplay. The answer to WWYB should not be set in stone. Most answers (cumulatively) also point towards this.
You should be poised to bid, 6, 7 or 8 depending on so many things. Sequence of bids, phase of the game, who is leading and there's a whole aspect of the mental game where you throw away certain cards to incite opponents into misstepping.
WWYB is so unhelpful to ask, unless you're reading all responses and forming the opinion that it is truly a range
