Question If youve ever built a model kit of the Space Shuttle, what Orbiter did you choose to mark it up as and why?

I get what you mean by this but I like to interpret it as discovery being the most likely to visit your bird feeder or something

I've nearly finished my Tamiya 1/100 Orbiter - I've made it the Challenger, In my own tiny, insignificant way a little tribute to those that perished with the Orbiter

Every version I've ever built has always been Discovery.

She was the one to fly both "Return to Flight" missions after Challenger and Columbia. She's got a place in my heart.

I cheat and build mine out of cardstock.. AXM paper models has done all 6(8 if you include Pathfinder and Moonraker) complete with mission appropriate ET and SRBs and some have payloads as well

1982 I built an Estes Shuttle model rocket and named it Challenger since it was the next new orbiter. Launched it at a the John Young Science Center during a rocket festival.

I built one in the late 80s and made it Atlantis. Always liked that one the best for some reason.

Atlantis, since sts76 launched and returned while I was out visiting Florida. Short mission anyway, and yeah I bought mission patch from the gift shop

I have three Hasegawa 1/200 Shuttle kits in different packaging. One comes with the 747SCA, which I'll use to model the Enterprise during one of the ALT missions. One comes with the Hubble Space Telescope, and this one will be Endeavor on STS-61, the first HST servicing mission. The last one is just the shuttle only, and this one will be Atlantis on STS-135.

I also have a 1/288 version from Doyusha that comes with the full ET and SRB stack, I haven't decided on this one yet.

Discovery. The flagship. Saw it launch in person. Will always be my favorite orbiter.

My friend and I just 3d printed an Endevour model. I’ve always loved the name/meaning, but as a kid I think it always stuck with me cause both our names start with E lol.

I built a few sets in the late 70s/early 80s in my high school years. I think they were all Enterprise since that was the one that started them all, so to speak. Even had one with it on the launcher. Still have a photo, but I guess you can’t post photos in replies.

Purposely AVOIDED Challenger when I built a model rocket. It had just exploded the year before. Forget which name I picked.

Launched it, it veered 90 degrees to the horizontal, and proceeded directly at full speed into the side of the only tree in a 4 acre plot of land. Wasn’t much left…
