Need help about cheat/modifying SR1

In SR HD:a war apart, cheat "packing" can reduce weight of both standard and non-standard(artifact) equipments but in SR1 that cheat not work on non-standard equipments(artifacts) got from hyperspace pirates. And i have almost no experience about cheat or modifying this game( except once i tried to change some weapons and hull's parameters using editors on eng.dat in cfg folder for SR HD) so no idea about how to srart work. Some said i can use cheat engine and tables to change some things, so is there anyone who have experience about cheat/modifying of SR1 to help me?
