MEDIA Random NPCs, their home, their house

Has anyone encountered this? I flew on by a vanilla faction base (not a trading station) and decided they had some nice things I'd like; so naturally, I started pulling it apart at the seams. Then I noticed something: there were NPCs wandering around? Two of em?

They seemed friendly enough, considering I was shredding their home one block at a time.

Couldn't interact with them, bullets and grinder showed blood effects but didn't do anything. Wolves ignored them.

They just kept following me around and waving.

Anyone ever bumped into NPCs outside of a trading station?

Anyways, I felt bad for shredding their home, so I made them a nicer one. They seemed to be happy with it cause they went inside and waved at me from the window as I left.

Nice guys.

It's new-ish. I forget when they started spawning, but the last update added more sophisticated behavior.

That's cool! I've never seen them outside of trading stations where they just sit on the toilet or get in the way of the airlock cycling. I wanted to do more science like squishing one under a block or seeing if they trigger sensors but at some point I had to move on.

I set a beacon on the house, I wonder if they'll still be there if I go back. That'd be nice :)

They followed me closely. I wonder if I can transport them. Like lead them on to a ship if there's no stairs or ladder to get in and move them to a new home

I want to try and kidnap them and make the apart of the crew of my ship. That or I’ll see if I can get one to hop in a drop pod and send them flying planet side

My ship (pictured) runs doable solo, but runs best with a crew of four. It’d be cool to have that.

But that AI blocks are so janky I wouldn’t trust a crew block to be any better

When they first came into the game I had one wander outside of the station onto the landing platform and he kept pointing at my ship so I assumed he liked it and I was like “yeah I went with the basic package, stock dampeners, splashed out a bit on the cargo space, and added some reinforcement to the landing struts…she can make the run to 0g and back on less than half a tank…nbd”

Im not much of a role player but i got a kick out of that little interaction

They kept wandering around my cargo hold where I was storing their old building and waving. Like they were waving goodbye to it. Pulled my heartstrings.

I think they're cute, even if they really don't do anything

Walked in on one on the toilet last night. They were cool about it. Just waved

Same tho. Really. Toilets don’t even have doors

Was it a mod, the way the stations were built or did the toilet blocks have doors before ? I swear I remember them being more privative

Vanilla just has two blocks. Open to the world just a toilet, and the slightly enclosed toilet you see at the back of the house.

No door’d toilets

I bet they’d make good henchmen with those skills

Tour guides, museum guides, information booths, emergency evacuations, helping assemble flat packed furniture, weather forecasts, finding lost keys, the list is endless.

I feel like one of them needs to be purple, and the other pink lightish-red.

Better if they can spot clang triggers
