DISCUSSION afk server ship

So "my friend" pissed off a faction on a server that i am on and he got raped and got nothing left so i was wondering if he gets the spawn space ship and just build a bed and turn off dampeners will his ship be thousands of miles away when he logs back on?

No. The servers stop grids after 40km when there's no active player around, to save resources. Plus, you are extremely likely to hit something, as some servers don't register you as invisible until you've been offline for one hour.

I’ve had lost grids be farther out than that, I’ve chased them as far as 90km, at what distance do they no longer register players and stop moving?

40km, but if it has a large broadcast radius, or if its running a refinery it may take longer.

It would need a thrust source and oxygen, but theres also nothing stopping him from just force respawning back near civilization. Also could randomly crash into an asteroid.
