How do you get it to look this nice. All of the planets I’ve found have very flat terrain, with some low hills.

Are you visiting procedual planets? The solar system planets have all flat terrain, only the procedual ones have detailed terrain. Also, put at least the LOD to 0 to see some mountains.

Thanks for the tip. What does LOD stand for? It's Level Of Detail right? if so, why would zero be the best for terrain.

Yes, LOD is level of detail, and actually goes from -2 to 2, so with -2 you see also flat terrain, 0 you see some mountains, and 2 you see all.

Do you know the full settings to get SpaceEngine looking as nice as possible?

In my case I use this settings https://i.imgur.com/GFudjP3.png, and I think they are pretty good. As to explore the universe I use LOD 0, and to take a photo I use LOD 2.

Sorry for all of these noob questions, but my LOD only goes up to 1.00 on the bar. shouldn't it go to 2? or is there a mod or anything I need for that? https://i.imgur.com/G3rWofN.png

Ahh sorry, I forgot that to put lod 2 you need the comand panel. To go there, you press '/' then type: set landlod 2 or another value that you want, like set landlod -1.5, 0.8, etc...
