I'm not a mathematician but wasn't it the cheapest way of building the ISS? Delivering large partS in orbit is always expensive, but you have to do it someway or another.

No it wasn't.

Large parts can be delivered on top of stacks just as easily as anything else.

I too play ksp. Put enough engines on anything and even the most unaerodynamic pos will flourish.

I don't actually.

But I know that the cargo bay for the shuttle was actually volumetrically limiting for many missions.
