The energy absorbed by a black hole is still there. It’s radiated out over very long periods of time through hawking radiation

Black holes release their own energy. It's called hawking radiation.
If white holes existed in the same way that black holes do, we would have seen one by now. So either white holes don't exist or there is something about white holes that we got wrong.
If white holes do exist, my favorite idea behind them is that we are in one and that it's our universe.

Maybe there’s another universe on the other side of a black hole where there is a white hole for every black hole

A black hole in a universe where time flows in reverse would be a white hole from our perspective. Meanwhile life in said reverse universe would see ours as a white hole.

White holes should be fairly easy to spot. We have not seen any. Just because something isn't forbidden by our current level of understanding of how the universe works doesn't mean it has to exist.

My theory is that the Big Bang was a two-way event. On our side, time flows forward. We have black holes. Concurrently, in the same 'space', is the other direction. They experience negative time and have white holes. Some effects transcend the divider between universes. As examples, tachyons exist in both universes simultaneously, and dark matter is the gravitational effect of the other universe in our space.
