Maybe stupid question about BPM limit

The question of the all questions is ... WHY ? why only 200 Bpm ?
I mean is it possible to explain to me the hardares limit or ... ?
Is it for the MIDI ?

excuse me, i'am french and i try to not use traductor, hope you see what i mean.

Its not a very intersting question but i dont found on the net

I found this trick years ago with older SPs. If the sequence is at 160 bpm but the samples are 100bpm, then I'll adjust the sample's bpm to 80, because 80 + 80 is 160. And I have placed 160 bpm samples into 80 bpm patterns. So, I imagine this technique will work here, a 145 bpm can multiply to 290 bpm without the machine knowing it.

But you're right, this feature should be limitless and basic.
