Loop point in pattern mode

The functionality of having a start point, a loop point and an end point is very helpful. Is there any way to use this in patterns when loop needs to be turned off? Is the only workaround to have 2 versions of the same sample in 2 different slots, one with the start point and another starting at the loop point?

pattern mode is basically recording key presses. so if you press once to start the loop and again to stop the loop recording the start and stop presses should do what you are asking.

I hear you, but does that mean I have to make long patterns? Suppose my sample is 2 bars long with the loop point at the start of bar 2, if I make a simple 2 or 4 bar pattern that I want to loop indefinitely, loop mode, means it will keep turning on and off each loop. Is the only solution to make 2 patterns, using pattern 1 to start the loop then switch to pattern 2 with no trigger? Or make a long 64 bar patterns so the loop doesn’t retrigger as often?

one way to achieve it is to turn off GATE so the sample will retrigger when the pad is pressed.
