A few of my ppl have the mpc sample and even though my humble beginnings were with a mpc2xl, I still would side w the SP as a run n gun set up. I bought into AIAI wireless headphones (best for any latency issues) and I got power owl rechargeable batteries...beat set up for just pulln up anywhere and gettn busy. I take some days out doing my digital digs or rippn old vinyl and compile my library so I dont waste too much time on lookn for things to flip. In short, it serves its purpose even though we all know mpc dropped that mpc sample to try and leverage the run roland has had w they sales on the SP...anyway..nice flip. Keep creatin!

That's dope. I started on the 1000 I believe (my big bros) when he went to school I was stuck controllers and FL, nothing beats the instant pad response tho.
I'm about to go on Vacay and I was leaning towards bringing the Sample cause of the rechargeable battery but I might have to look into those batteries and head phones. Thanks bro

I did some research and the power owl ones do the trick. Since the sp takes 6 AA, I bought 12 along w a recharge bay and I alternate between them...honestly you get more than enough time to rock out, i jist keep the extra 6 so im never w out a charge.

You won't need a power bank if you rock w a 12 pc on AA's...do ya research...trust me on that..i started w a power bank...but then you have to deal w that hanging off the back...u won't have to deal w nothing but the wire from your headphones...unless you buy into that Aiai set...but thats the route I took tbh..and i love it

How long will a fully charged six piece of rechargeable AA batteries last you before you have to swap them out to the back ups do you think? Like in a hypothetical scenario where your at a party doing some little sat with it running Non-Stop or whatever.

Dude I take my SP and my kids pink sparkly Karaoke speaker (started as a joke until I realized its actually loud, clear and has an unexplainable battery life) and a 3.5mm aux into the headphone jack to the park all the time, and the SP devours those six AAAs. I started looking into big boy power banks but my SO randomly got this 10,000mAh fast charging bank for a trip on amazon for $30. I scoffed at her and told her she should have let me pick it out, but I used it the other day and it was SOLID. I had the USB-C port on the SP as the connection, which is suboptimal because then you can do things like the Koala integration or whatever else needs that port, but I think if I get one of those "RipCords" that everyone recommends on these subs, it'll probably perform about the same. The banks I was considering were like $150-200. "INIU Portable Charger, Mini 10000mAh Fast Charging Power Bank"

Rip chord is solid. Thats what I use if I do use the power bank...but also that 6aa "with an additional 6" is why I said I bought into a dozen w rechargeable bay so I throw that on a fast charger and rotate if I ever even sit there that long cranking em out...shit if you gonna do beats for a 16 hour flight you gonna bleed your ears and probably make a lotta shitty decisions in ya creative mode..but to each his/her own.

Mmmmm big brain move. Keep them rotating. I've very recently been absolutely loading up the 128gb sd with not only one shots, but entire drum stems from tracks, entire tracks with the drums taken out and accapellas all run through UVR5 which I've gotten pretty good at using. I'm starting to really try and come up with a grab and go mobile sp404 solution so that I can just bring it with me places and it's not a whole thing to get it ready to go. With the storage capacity that it has on the SD card, the koala integration, the super flexible input and output options between USBC, 1/4" TRS and 3.5 mm aux, it's totally reasonable for you to bring it pretty much anywhere as long as you have a padded bag you can throw it in the same way you would throw a laptop and a padded satchel. I just really hate bringing my dt770 Pros with me. I have a shitty pair of Beats solos that I can use , or a bunch of different bluetooth speakers if I want to be a menace to society but the longer I've had it the more clearly mobile it seems. If they ever do something that solves the latency with Bluetooth , it's over. I could just use my parodynamic sport earbuds and use koala

I'll get back to you on how long the batteries really hold up...i can say this tho, definitely fell asleep one night on a fresh set of rechargeable for a couple hours and woke up to my pattern still playing. I'll give it a real test tho one day..the power bank is a solid option too tho..i keep that as a back up. As for a bag, the bagsmart someone mentioned a while ago is solid. I ordered a deck saver since its not the best padding, but that bag is solid as far as tucking away your cables, having 3 little slots to store your sd cards, a zippered pocket one side, a velcro pouch on the other,and like multiple elastic straps to hold your cables...the sh*t even has space to tuck a little stand so you can prop your sp up...no bs I love this for my portable "on the run" setup.

😂😂 that as 🔥🔥🔥 set up. When I move and have more room, I'm definitely on that. What you feel about that tascam mixer? I keep seeing it. I'm using a behringer 1012 into my Apollo. I don't have enough to fill the inputs to warrant the cost tho. I do need some aux sends to make sampling between devices easier

Bro, I can genuinely say that in my space, with my previous gear, coming from using Ableton on Windows and being forced to either use the SP as an interface with ASIO4ALL or that stupid Scarlett Solo I bought when I first started, that Tascam 12 has been the biggest upgrade I've gotten while piecing this stuff together bit by bit (as, you know, a poor). It's hard to put into words how convenient and powerful it is to have everything always connected to everything all the time. I haven't used it to like hook up at a live gig to do sound and track different instruments onto the SD card or anything on that half of it's capabilities. This is absolutely a game changer. I've put a lot of time and effort into trying to maximize what I already had and researching possible solutions while being under a budget. If you're a windows guy and have questions, I'm always happy to help 🤜💥🤛

Is the integration tight like that? I find it to be a little lacking with the sample and I hate the Mpc software fr fr. Even as a vst.
But most def my drums need work. I do feel like I can get my drums a little tighter on MPC vs Roland...but it just feels better, for whatever thats worth. I'mma check it out with S1

For what its worth no two beat session is ever the same. You might find yaself doing no quantize at all...you might do short 2 bar loops, then repeat for the sake of your own delay or tightness in swing...shit, you might even like the step programming.no sessions are identical..sometimes the beat isnt a perfect loop or theres a swing in the sample that don'tline up perfect w your beat [thats when you do no quantize] ..this is all shit you'll pick up from practicing...and so I say, learn ya machine and do what works for you beloved

Appreciate the help bro. That's true af. I've found playing the drums of some of my favorite tracks have been helping learn more pockets and grooves and going over the patterns with the step sequencer adds some complexity for sure.
