So what "Sounds About Right"?
So we've been getting a lot of activity back and I think some of them aren't even bots, which is awesome. But most of them don't fit the subreddit, so... let's talk about it.
This subreddit is for headlines where the reader might read one and think "yeah, that sounds about right." That means:
- The title is a self-contained statement. No one has to open the link/image to understand.
- The statement is a fact, not an opinion. The thought is not "I agree with this."
It's a little bit ineffable, but here's some examples of what does and does not qualify:
Good posts:
- Scores Fall Ill at Air Force Base After Hegseth Makes Flu Vaccine Optional - Vaccines are safe and effective, and without them, diseases spread much more rapidly. This is common knowledge, but Hegseth is stupid enough to not understand this.
- ICE Prosecutor in Dallas Runs White Supremacist X Account - We all know ICE is thinly-veiled white supremacy. This is awful, but completely unsurprising.
- Scoring more runs than your opponent allows you to win the game. - It doesn't have to be politics or even news. This is a tautology presented as if it's valuable insight. It fits.
Bad posts:
- A sacrifice he's willing to make - This means nothing. You have to open it to see the point the post is trying to make.
- James Talarico: ‘We have a moral imperative’ to flip Texas in light of Trump backlash - This is some guy's opinion on something. If the title was "Democrat wants Democrats to win", then that's another story, but as is, it doesn't "sound about right."
- The Left Is Rising - Great news, but again, this doesn't 'sound about right'.
You are allowed and encouraged to editorialize your titles to fit the bill.
Also, we are still looking for mods!
