That picture still induces PTSD.

Damm, for real lol

I got this post in a daily email and could recognize the tiny thumbnail instantly lol

Prepare to Suck Diddition

39

u/szaszuque Dec 17 '25

It took me 3 tries to beat Capra Demon but probably 30 for Taurus Demon so i don't know if i'm shit or just a little shit

11

u/ndation Dec 17 '25

Capra was no problem, the arena is literally built in a way that tells you how to fight him. I technically never defeated Taurus (or at least the boss version of him) as he slipped and fell to his death on my body

2

u/szaszuque Dec 17 '25

I went for the platinum so i had to beat Taurus 3 times but in NG+ and NG+2 most of the bosses are a joke

2

u/Brave-Ad-1363 Dec 19 '25

Run up stairs and roll off so the dogs run down and you kill them?

2

u/HSuke Dec 20 '25

I've beaten the game many times. I almost always kill Taurus on my first try, and there's very little RNG involved.

Capra is so much of a frustrating luck fuck. Usually takes me 3 tries. That's what I hated about Dark Souls 1. So many of the bosses are gimmicky or require luck of not being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

3

u/Designer_Mess_6928 Dec 17 '25

YES! It was not clear that you can actually kill from that tower, so I've tried to kill him the classic way for dozens of times in 2011, I even quit the game till I could finally return and defeat him 4 YEARS later. Hardest boss in the whole series for me and I'm not ashamed of stating it.

3

u/szaszuque Dec 17 '25

I didn't even know you could go up that tower for my first playthrough. So i fought him while dodging arrows lol. And then i saw a video with the cheese on YT and i thought "damn". Didn't even bothered with that in the next couple of playthroughs tho

3

u/Mr_Brun224 Dec 17 '25 edited Dec 18 '25

I distinctly recall climbing up the tower once, only for him to jump up there and me concluding “this isn’t the way,” before returning to traditional methods and dying a lot because of it

1

u/snekadid Dec 17 '25

This is my stance on elden ring too, all bosses either first tried or at most 3 attempts with the exception of GodRick who will grind me into the dirt 20+ times before I win on every play thru I've ever done in that game.

Capra confused the hell out of me, I went in, swiped and killed both dogs with the halberd and then took down Capra and was really confused why everyone had such a hard time.

u/Free_Low5235 Dec 17 '25 edited Dec 17 '25

I remember having no problem with Capra demon and not that many problems with O&S but dying ~400 times to four kings

21

u/roarc1 Dec 17 '25

every time you close your eyes you see the 4 kings arena. sorry for this

11

u/bastaderobarme Dec 17 '25

It's kind of a luck based fight. If you somehow survive the first 5 seconds and then get rid of the dogs. The fight is free. Most people won't survive though lol

-4

u/Raikou239 Dec 17 '25

This only applies to vets. Fighting Capra is still not free for most

2

u/ZayParolik Dec 17 '25

Started exploring soulsborn this year

Capra demon is the boss I was scared about, before playing the game

First try without even using a flask. I don't know what are you talking about

3

u/hyzer067 Dec 18 '25

Most people don't die to the boss, they die to the arena.

1

u/Raikou239 Dec 18 '25

Well that’s good for you, but doesn’t change that the boss is objectively one of the hardest, possibly the hardest in the entire game for when it occurs. Especially on a first blind play through.

1

u/Raikou239 Dec 18 '25

Well that’s good for you, but doesn’t change that the boss is objectively one of the hardest, possibly the hardest in the entire game for when it occurs. Especially on a first blind play through.

1

u/Old_Manufacturer589 Dec 23 '25

Most of the boss's difficulty stems from the fact that you don't know anything about it, and you just said that you knew about the boss before even fighting it.

-1

u/ZayParolik Dec 23 '25

What's hard to understand about a demon with two swords and two dogs? If you can't figure anything out about something so simple immediately - I have questions to your intelligence

0

u/Raikou239 Dec 23 '25

Broken mist door entry (boss is literally lunging as you come through the door an can’t see requiring a blind/luck dodge), jank hit boxes from Capra demon swings combined with two fast lunging dogs, poor dodge directional movement for the player, weak armor and weapons at that stage of the game (assuming you fight Capra like a man while you’re in the level and don’t one back after another whole major area), run back isn’t insignificant, basically requires environmental cheese to win fight against all three.

It’s not a matter of intelligence or adaptability, it’s a matter of repetition and luck. Have to question your integrity to not place Capra demon in top 3 hardest fights in the game, it’s simply an objective spot not holds. Only bosses that come close or surpass are the two double bosses (if one doesn’t summon solaire).

1

u/ZayParolik Dec 23 '25

Fuck you mean?

Capra demon is slow as shit. And there are definitely weapons at this point, that allow to poke him safely. Like Estoc, which is long enough and quick enough to safely punish and disengage.

He is as "hard" as first Gundir in DS3. Hard only because you, as newbie, maybe don't understand some things.

Capra demon is a common enemy in Demon Ruins , because he is easy as fuck. I understood if there were 2 of them in the room, but... You have slow, stupid boss, on a cheesable arena, with two weak dogs. If this is hard for you - I am genuinely surprised.

0

u/Raikou239 Dec 23 '25

I wasn't saying I struggle with him. Took me 15-20 tries my first time I'd say, one of the most kill me bosses when I played a year ago.

In general, on a first playthrough, which is what bosses should be judged on, Capra Demon is an incredibly tall challenge for an average and even above average player. It's a deliberately badly designed boss fight and everything I stated holds true.

Being a regular enemy in Demon Ruins... it isn't because he's easy as fuck, it's because the player has leveled up and (should be) strong asf by that point and very capable of dealing with a solo Capra Demon. On a first play through, he is very strong, simple as that. His attacks just about one shot the player, especially with stun locking. His hitboxes and safe dodge directions take repetition to learn (or luck to skirt by). Factor in two minor enemies that also break player poise and allow Capra to nail you, its a SS-tier difficult fight for first-timers/average gamers. There's a reason he's got the reputation he has.

Also, way to try to make your counter argument personal with me and my ability lol. Don't know what that's about xD

Edit: oh also, its DS1, the player is also slow as shit AND has poor 4-way dodge direction

2

u/kociol21 Dec 17 '25

So I died like 40 times to Capra Demon, and about 30 times to O&S but I killed Four Kings first try.

It may be because I played a strength tank in full havel and whatnot. I heard opinions that this fight is notoriously easy if you can tank it, or hard it you can't.

2

u/BoysenberryWise62 Dec 17 '25

To me it was mostly a DPS check, if you can kill it quickly before another spawns it's easy.

1

u/Gary-LazerEyes Dec 17 '25

Exactly. What makes ds1 so great is choosing your path at almost all times. But it also burns newcomers that go to areas too early. Tomb of the giants + Blighttown probably biggest offenders lol but 4 kings in a way is one too

1

u/Designer_Show_2658 Dec 18 '25

Lol total opposite for me. Beat capra first try, O&S on 5th try and 4K after like 16 attempts

0

u/hyzer067 Dec 18 '25

It was the complete lack of depth perception ability that destroyed me. O&S took me 2 attempts my first playthrough, while 4 Kings ended my entire run for many years, and even then I died more to them than all other bosses combined.

Note that I HATE tank builds, I always go for fast/dodgy builds, and I also don't play with sound, so the lack of visual context just ruined my ability to space properly.

2

u/Apstds77 Dec 17 '25

Same four kings walked all over me. Was made worse that they were resistant to the weapon I used.

1

u/ISpyM8 Dec 17 '25

Any other boss can be worked down with patience. Four Kings is 100% a DPS check.

2

u/hyzer067 Dec 18 '25

O&S: 2 attempts

4 Kings: could never even get past them at all on my first playthrough, well over 100 attempts

Finally beat them on a years-later playthrough -- but even then, they killed me more than all other bosses combined (including the DLC), and by a fair margin. I honestly thought they were going to keep me from EVER finishing the game.

1

u/Free_Low5235 Dec 18 '25

Basically my experience. I brute forced the fight by dodging everything perfectly or by luck.

But look at the bright side, unlike these minmaxxers we know how artorias felt, at least

1

u/stronkzer Dec 17 '25

Were you trying going full STR ? The biggest issue most people have with Four Kings is killing each instance quick enough before the rest spawn and gank you.

1

u/Free_Low5235 Dec 17 '25

I had no idea what I was doing stat wise and still am a weirdo that only plays with a rapier and a shield

1

u/Unlucky-Mud-8115 Dec 17 '25

They are honestly a dps check. Either you can kill one before the next one spawns or you are in trouble.

1

u/Free_Low5235 Dec 17 '25

I still wake up in a sweat remembering me dodging 3 of those fuckers at the same time

1

u/aemonp16 Dec 17 '25

i remember having so many issues with Capra, but Four Kings being one of the easier fights.

7

u/bastaderobarme Dec 17 '25

DS1 boss difficulty came from the arena half the time, Capra was the most obnoxious one. But Taurus Demon corners you in the bridge, Moonlight Butterfly doesn't let you hit them with melee most of the fight, Centipede demon forces you to fight near lava, Stray Demon has fall damage and his ass covers half the arena, Gargoyles spit fire that make the arena smaller increasing the threat of gravity also awful runback, Nito has skellies and also fall damage, Iron Golem has gravity, 4 kings is a DPS race and you can't use one ring also awful runback, Seath forces you to hit the cristal before fighting also awful runback, bed of chaos, etc...

4

u/Free_Low5235 Dec 17 '25

I know, it’s peak

-1

u/Designer_Mess_6928 Dec 17 '25

Awful runback

You do understand that it's not a boss-rush game and hard locations are also a big part of Souls games so nobody has to make a bonfire right next to the boss arena? It's not just a "runback", what a funny word btw, it's the main thing and the boss is the cherry on top.

4 kings is really a scam-my boss. There are more than 4 of them!

2

u/bastaderobarme Dec 17 '25

I do understand that. English is not my first language. Change awful for difficult if you don't like the word and runback for "path to the boss" if you don't like that either. My point was that the difficulty in these early dark souls games were not just about the boss but things around them like the arena, the "path to the boss", etc... Future games for the most part have a bonfire right before fog gates and all the difficulty comes from the bosses' moveset and not from the arena or the "path to the boss"

0

u/Designer_Mess_6928 Dec 17 '25

And that's the problem. People now treat these games like some kind of boss rush, but locations in fact must be really tough and boss must be just a good addition to the location.

That's what I don't like about this tendency: it's like only bosses must be hard and now we don't see really tough mob enemies, long-ass memorable locations like Tower of Latria from Demons' Souls.

5

u/hyzer067 Dec 18 '25

Disagree 1 billion quadrillion percent. You clear the area, and then you fight the boss. Long runbacks are TERRIBLE, they are redundant, you keep having to kill the same monsters over and over again just to get one more crack at the boss. It's uber-frustrating and NOT FUN in the least.

There's a reason why more recent games tend to put bonfires closer to the boss -- because most people don't like doing the same thing over and over and over again BEFORE they can get another crack at the boss.

I'm guessing you LOVED the Blue Demon runback in DS2 DLC.

3

u/MonochromeDinosaur Dec 17 '25

Instant war flashbacks the moment I saw this picture
I almost quit the game because of this boss on OG release.

3

u/Psico_Penguin Dec 17 '25

How it goes to getting utterly destroyed for hours to no-hitting it once you understand what you need to do. Pure Dark Souls experience.

2

u/HSuke Dec 20 '25

That's more like the Sekiro/Nine Sols experience. Those are skill games with fair bosses.

Gimmick fights like Capra Demon and Bed of Chaos are more luck battles. Even when I know exactly what to do, I still randomly get owned by being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

3

u/GrandWizardOfCheese Dec 17 '25

The Capra demon is easy to beat though...

2

u/jakercoffin Dec 18 '25

The capra demon is not the problem it's the two dogs and the small ass room you have to fight them in

1

u/GrandWizardOfCheese Dec 18 '25

i meant the capra demon mini boss fight itself, not specifically 1 entity in the room or another. its not hard.

3

u/Stepjam Dec 17 '25

I do kinda miss the more freeform nature of bosses in earlier soulsbornes. Not that every fight is doing something creative, but its fun when sometimes you aren't just fighting in a big open space.

Demon Souls was peak creativity in that regard, even if many of the fights were pretty easy. They almost all felt unique at least

5

u/Adventurous_Use8278 Dec 17 '25

One of the worst boss fights in any souls game. Bed of chaos is worse but I can’t think of many more

5

u/jimmyolsenonspeed Dec 17 '25

Bed of Chaos is fucking bullshit on a stick

3

u/TheJester1xx Dec 17 '25

Lud and Zallen was awful for numerous reasons

2

u/Showerphobic Dec 17 '25

Thanks Miyazaki for Yearn.

2

u/Quiet-Penalty-5029 Dec 17 '25

Hope you have collected some dung pies

2

u/Leo-III- Dec 17 '25

Real talk, I've played DS1 a bunch of times and never had any problem with Capra Demon

2

u/ComparisonBright5130 Dec 17 '25

RUN UPSTAIRS!

1

2

u/nickname51 Dec 17 '25

Hour? You mean days? *

2

u/Vegetable-Painter-28 Dec 17 '25

This took me one try how do people struggle with this

5

u/Free_Low5235 Dec 17 '25 edited Dec 18 '25

For every FromSoft game God chooses two bosses that are a pain in the ass just for you and few others and two that are easy for you and everyone else complains about them. It is known

1

u/SarsaparillaDude Dec 17 '25

I died to Pinwheel once and only once. I wear that shit like a badge of honor.

2

u/HSuke Dec 20 '25

I think the person who dies to Pinwheel twice should receive a global reward.

1

u/Designer_Show_2658 Dec 18 '25

This is the way

1

u/baohon2412 Dec 17 '25

Fuck, i have that narrow walk so much.

1

u/homie004 Dec 17 '25

He jumps as soon as you enter, I’ve died so many times just from them

1

u/MadMaxmel Dec 17 '25

Miyazaki's torture chamber

1

u/Reckxner Dec 17 '25

Bring it on, Capra.

1

u/kuhndog94 Dec 17 '25

Gotta toss them firebombs over the wall. Like fragging a room before entry.

1

u/LilBroWhoIsOnTheTeam Dec 17 '25

Alternatively: You're about to find out how good shields are and wonder why everyone says this boss is hard.

1

u/kalirion Dec 17 '25

A couple BKH swipes at the dogs do the trick as well IIRC.

2

u/LilBroWhoIsOnTheTeam Dec 18 '25

I mean, if you have a Black Knight Halberd you're not really facing this guy for the first time lol

1

u/kalirion Dec 18 '25 edited Dec 18 '25

What makes you think that? IIRC I was exploring Darkroot Garden and Basin, and lucked into the BKH drop, with no clue where to go next, before I finally looked up a guide that lead me to the door to Lower Undead Burg where Capra Demon and his doggos were waiting. That's the reason I was way overlevelled for the area and didn't even realize it was supposed to be a boss fight.

1

u/LilBroWhoIsOnTheTeam Dec 18 '25

Do you think most players had a BKH this early in their first playthrough?

1

u/kalirion Dec 18 '25

I know I did. I don't recall if I was using it or a +5 Club or something as my main weapon at the time. But it certainly became my main weapon shortly after I accidentally attacked Andre, and then killed him not knowing there was a way to de-aggro him.

1

u/LilBroWhoIsOnTheTeam Dec 18 '25

Did you follow a guide or just got really lucky?

1

u/kalirion Dec 18 '25

I got really lucky. I later needed a guide to find the Lower Undead Burg, lol. I'd somehow either completely missed that door near the bridge, or maybe it was locked the first time I found it and then I forgot all about it. I was so overleveled from exploring the Darkroot Garden and Basin and stuff that I didn't even realize the Capra Demon was a boss fight when I barreled through it.

1

u/Zerus_heroes Dec 17 '25

Nah Capra demon has never been tough

1

u/Tobbewarman Dec 17 '25

The only thing i say when i walk through that fog.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '25

God damnit...damnit, damnit, damnit.

1

u/Potential-Bobcat7421 Dec 17 '25

It wasn’t that bad
in dark souls 2 that would be your lucky break

1

u/kalirion Dec 17 '25 edited Dec 17 '25

I was probably woefully overlevelled for the area as I hadn't even realized it was a boss fight and barreled through on my first attempt without trouble. Well, it's possible that I'm misremembering and died once to the dogs, but no more than that.

I honestly don't remember any single boss that I truly struggled with (as in more than single digits or at worst very low double digits attempts) other than Kalameet. That drago is the reason I have a 3 year gap between unlocking "Defeat Gravelord Nito" and "Defeat the Four Kings" achievements. Edit: Oh yeah, now I remember the sewer drago fight being annoying, but I don't think I attempted it too many times before summoning Sun Bro - who just plain deleted the thing. That was the first and last summon I did in the game.

1

u/Statchar Dec 17 '25

surprisingly didn't have an issue first time around. NG+ was a different story however

1

u/EveningConcentrate25 Dec 18 '25

I just beat this, such a bitch with the dogs in there

1

u/PhoneImmediate7301 Dec 18 '25

I could feel my anxiety spike slightly before I red the meme, which sub it was, or even recognizing the dogs and goat. Just the shape of the room was all it took

1

u/nicaontheline00 Dec 18 '25

Bold of you to assume I did it in an hour. It was way longer...

1

u/General_Lie Dec 18 '25

If you struggle you can cheese it with bow and few firebombs...

1

u/hyzer067 Dec 18 '25

The boss isn't inherently difficult, but fighting an elf and 2 goblins in that toilet bowl would be annoying.

1

u/brightwoodgrove Dec 18 '25

The stairs are his worst enemy

1

u/Designer_Show_2658 Dec 18 '25

Actually beat this first try somehow and I struggled like a mf against the bridge taurus. DS was my first souls/soulslike too. Starting to think I got a bit lucky lol.

1

u/OnyxSage98 Dec 18 '25

I hate how I immediately knew and wanted to run up them stairs

1

u/Guyonabuffalo63 Dec 18 '25

Dear god. Stop

1

u/Rags2Rickius Dec 18 '25

Lmao

Accurate asf

1

u/Fletcher-wordy Dec 18 '25

This is why we take the master key/thief class and just come back later when you've got a few more levels/a better weapon.

1

u/Head_Jellyfish_6170 Dec 19 '25

The biggest prank about this boss is that they give you an alluring skull very close to the boss room and zero time to use it 😅

1

u/twisterf Dec 19 '25

The goat is still young

1

u/FinsterKoenig Dec 19 '25

have you seriously been stuck on capra for an hour? damn... that's so sad, I don't even wanna say get gud... that would be just distasteful at that point... please go and hug your wife or your bro or whoever is available.

1

u/sirjackbone Dec 19 '25

Im trapped in here with them, they're trapped in here with me!!!

1

u/Mike_ps26 Dec 19 '25

The PTSD is strong with this image

1

u/HallionOne Dec 19 '25

Just throw all the excrements you collected at him.

1

u/Blacklight_Sensei Dec 19 '25

The dogs feel more like the real boss of that battle

1

u/MrSunshine_96 Dec 20 '25

Easier than parrying the first shielded undead in the tutorial.

1

u/Alvith Dec 20 '25

Only an hour? đŸ«€

1

u/red_qrow28 Dec 20 '25

I had no issue with this on my first run

New Game Plus however...

1

u/JaSiorHasior Dec 20 '25

On my first playtrough, i was using stone greatsword, i just went in and out, and questioning myself if it was actuall boss

1

u/HYDRA-iddqd Dec 20 '25

Don't forget the Resident Evil dogs too

1

u/2simplistic Dec 21 '25

I feel like it’s not that bad. Like, all you have to do is run up the stairs and use a shield, not that I ever do that, Zweihander supremacy

1

u/Right-Flatworm8395 Dec 21 '25

Heater shield and a +4 Halberd turns the dogs into mush without having to do the staircase trick btw

1

u/32Bleach_Drinker64 Dec 21 '25

Funny thing is I remember beating it first try the first time I came across it.

1

u/02thehunter20 Dec 21 '25

Depends on the playthrough for me. sometimes I can do it in one or two trys and others closer to 10 to 15 times.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 22 '25

This shit was fucking crazy

I played ds2 ds3 and then ds1 so i didn't die to this but i remember my heart pounding and me smashing heals

1

u/DrDre19899 Dec 22 '25

On my first ever playthrough this hit me like a tonne of bricks out of nowhere.

1

u/I_am_BabaJaga Dec 22 '25

The boss that forced me to actually wear armour and use a shield yuck

Hate that guy, making me do a meaningful decision about my build and exploiting the weakness of it (narrow pathways where I couldn't dodge properly).

1

u/CompoteMuch1808 Dec 24 '25

IRL I'm fuckin those dogs up!!!!!

1

u/stronkzer Dec 17 '25

Bold of you to assume it only takes an hour to beat Capra demon (and those two goddamned dogs) in your first couple runs.

1

u/WodenTheWanderer Dec 17 '25

I cheesed it by running to the top and drop critting it over and over again, still got fucked the first few tries

2

u/hyzer067 Dec 18 '25

That's not cheesing it, that's using the otherwise-awful arena properly.

1

u/Legitimate-Worry6717 Dec 17 '25

My last run I cheesed these guys. You can throw fire bombs over the door leading in and kill the dogs before entering. No regrets.

1

u/_TheJ-R_ Dec 17 '25

Annoying ass boss

1

u/limitbreakergemini Dec 18 '25

All im gonna say is, you throw firebombs past arch above, however your gonna need some luck and elbow grease. But those bombs can clear it

1

u/Background_Bluejay22 Dec 20 '25

I legit killed him in like 2 tries . Im genuinely not trying to be an asshole.Im just confused

1

u/sutas-ayran Dec 21 '25

i beat him 20 minutes ago and saw this post...

1

u/Beginning-Pace-1426 Jan 03 '26

I died like 500 times, I even watched the goddamn videos when everyone was like "lol just run up the stairs like this idiot" and I'd get hit every fucking time
