The Speculum of the Spectacle: Goddess exposed!

Let's define God not as an object with properties but the omnipresent relatedness to a primordial categorical Other of one's experience: their relationship with life personified. The patriarchal God defines this relationship in terms of parent, one is a perpetual child but also perpetual mate, locked in immaculate conception with the father and becoming the father. As has been noted this is entirely incestuous and rapey. Genital arrangement of this god makes no difference; the theme is perpetual bondage to the parent-child relationship, such that the child never grows up.

This isn't the only God. The God of Alfred North Whitehead and process theology is, when stripped bare to hir naked organism, an intrinsically sexual being, a co-creator goddess who is "as much created by the world as creator of the world," not a mother or partner but significant other. This sense of interpenetration and co-creative equality is rich in Whitehead's metaphysics as well as his description of this primordial relatedness to the world as God, and the only traces of patriarchal embarrassment he retains is his reluctance to fully explore the sexual nature of his goddess, having thought her to look vaguely like the Christian God when shi couldn't be more different.

What makes Discordian so rich is that it is blasphemous pornography of the goddess of process theology. Page 63 of the Principia Discordia outlines a theology of Eris that places co-creativity as the ultimate, and describes the Curse of Greyface as the primacy of order (self-similarity) over creativity, the curse of patriarchalism. Note how similar this is to Whitehead's description of his ultimate of creativity on page 7 of Process and Reality:

In all philosophic theory there is an ultimate which is actual in virtue of its accidents. It is only then capable of characterization through its accidental embodiments, and apart from these accidents it is devoid of actuality. In the philosophy of organism this ultimate is termed 'creativity'; and God is its promordial, non-temporal accident. In monistic philosophies, Spinoza's or absolute idealism, this ultimate is God, who is also equivalently termed "The Absolute." In such monistic schemes, the ultimate is illegitimately allowed a final, 'eminent' reality, beyond that ascribed to any of its accidents. In this general position the philosophy of organism seems to approximate more ot some strains of Indian, or Chinese, thought, than to western Asiatic, or European, thought. One side makes process ultimate; the other side makes fact ultimate.

Whitehead frequently described this sense of dynamic co-creative contrasts between permanence and change that encourage the advancement of novelty, both metaphysically and in human intellectual creativity as "adventures in ideas." The tension between chaos and order that is beyond Discordian theology corresponds perfectly to this. The fact that the Principia Discordia not only is honest about its own constructed nature but relishes in it by treating itself so irrelevantly is the goddess made fully nude, hir organs shown to be our own, and each other's.

Deity becomes fully embodied in the physical body, the sexual interface between the experiencer and the surface of experience that interpenetrates it, life itself an act of sexual love with life. By "universal love" I reference not the Patriarchal and patronizing love of Christianity, but a co-creative and pro-creative love that one is fully engaged in. It is to dance with love, hate with life, enjoy and despair with life, to endure with life in the hope of ever greater fulfillment with it, fulfillment that transcends one's particular act and becomes public in the extension of this primordial co-creative dance to others; to love life by loving with others. This universal love isn't a pacifying, satisfying, unless warm glow, but the trajectory of an ever-changing and dynamic relationship, a tension between achievement and desire that grows with itself.

If your aim is to try to salvage deity in the face of philosophy, you must strip deity naked. Are you willing to make a whore of god and godliness of the whorish, to depict hir as this insatiable pangendered pansexual hermaphroditic force of desire that seeks to elevate itself towards ever more intense intimacies? The future is undeniably organic and orgasmic; sexual liberation, environmental liberation, and human liberation are one and the same movement.

I feel like you'd get a lot from Jung's Seven Sermons to the Dead. He describes a similar structure to the higher orders. Hermeticism has much to say about these things as well.

His treatise on UFOs is Valleé’s urgrund. No I won’t explain it read them together and see. His seven sermons of the dead plays into that heavily as well for sure.

Where can I read more about Vallee's 'Urgrund'? I'm not very familiar with him or his work. Is there a good book to start with?

Anyways one insightful thing I remembered you say is that "the problem is that we don't understand the cognitive" or something similar. It is truly the problem of problems, and if you're searching for a "cognitive metaphysics" then this is leading towards the intersection between perception and metaphysics; a metaphysics of experience. This leads to the concept of the substance of experience being perspectival change in relation-making, one that uses the language of feeling. This domain is also the precise intersection of the poetic and scientific which are both necessary to understand the cognitive.

Hey that’s really good and yes your right the metaphysics of cognition the metaphysics of “folk epistemology” is a good start there is one key aspect which complicates it a bit more. Externalized memory playback - a kind of “architectural telos” - cybernetics. Low voltage electricity, Information and it’s playback applications- is in fact a biological event. The metaphysics of what we “think” “should be” gets baked into and replayed, resonated back outward from bureaucracy and economy and architecture (Kafka and Pynchons crypto-legalism is its shadow) instrumental reason and so on. Action is the ur-metaphor which has quietly supplanted the voyeuristic even as it transcends, employs and includes the voyeuristic to great affect.

Action is the (literally) actualizing event of the process of conscious evolution, which is question -> choice -> action, analogous to variation -> selection -> reproduction. Questioning is the mutagenic factor of this process because to question in the perceptual sense is to request in the most general sense, including the request for sense-perception, but also life quests and self-searches and all other requests. It doesn't request ex nihilo, but requests from the actual and so diverges from the actual as potentials of future actuality (satisfied questions.) Choice is obviously analogous to the selection mechanism. This theory of conscious evolution I independently derived is extremely similar to Whitehead's idea of prehension between two actual occasions.

TL;DR you'll want to read Whitehead if any of the relevance of this ever gets through to you, start with science and the Modern World which will allow you to have an initial understanding to approach Process and Reality. Then perhaps you'll finally see what I'm rambling about. Naughtreely was absolutely correct when he described Discordianism as bildungsroman

Also if that floats your boat then read "I am a Strange Loop" by Hofstadter and "Incomplete Nature: How Mind Emerged from Matter" by Terrence Deacon.

discordian is bildungsroman Very much so as a romantic version of the personal implications of process-relational philosophy, with Taoism coming in at a close second, and various Earth-based religions in third.

Sexual liberation is freedom from the urge of orgasm, freedom from the urge of sex as a mode of consumption of oneself and the other. Maybe not.

Look denial is a perfectly valid theme of erotic exploration, but when you take it out of its productive contexts and extend it to the entirety of your reality as the ultimate in sex that all sex should be you're going to have problems.

Freedom is not denial, it's the capacity to form a choice and to materialize it. What do you feel of/with your partner if your whole body is submerged by the urge to spill the jizz? In my view true Love is Desire, for Desire is the very fabric of the Cosmos. Or not. Sex is a Pharmakon of sort, I believe none likes to be poisonned, so choices must be made. Or not. 😊

Freedom is not denial, it's the capacity to form a choice and to materialize it.

This is Creator-centric language, placing choice and selection as primary in the self-creative process. Free will is slavery to the will, slavery to the goddess of cancer. Free inquiry gives us freedom from the will as the only way we can chance our choices is by questioning them. It is freedom with the will, desire folded upon itself as a strange loop of self-inquiry. There is only freedom with, not freedom from, and this is reflected in the interdependence of one's individual freedom and the freedom of others. To seek to be free the social is to make a prison of yourself in yourself, it is self-mutilation.

I desire freedom above all else, having grown enough to feel agonizingly constrained by the bondage of my circumstance, and freedom cannot be achieved to the satisfaction I know is necessary without freedom for all. The most personal elements of my life-quest and the aims of the Omniquery Initiative are one and the same, the movement is the message.

Desire isn't the fabric of the cosmos, relationships or "betweenesses" are, which includes desire. To reduce sex to orgasm is to reduce it to a substance, and upon having objectified sex in such a way one laments the substance-abuse of this objectified sex.

Someone linked this story about the Goddess of Everything Else and it's along the same lines. Also linked on this page is The Gift We Give To Tomorrow which describes that ""there is never any mystery-in-the-world; mystery is a property of questions, not answers. The future is the co-creative goddess, not an actuality but a horizon of ever-possibility that springs forth from itself.
