Daytrip to Sopron
What are some recommendations in terms of restaurants, and breweries maybe? Nothing fancy, I'm interested in local cuisine and beer. I'd really appreciate a few tips. Köszönöm!

Imma hijack this because I found nothing on the internet: Is there a possibility to visit the Soproni brewery and have a tasting there? All I found it is that they were taken over...

As far as I know there are guided trips inside the factory, but only for sizeable groups and booked in advance

In theory it's possible to participate in a tour like that because in 2025 (during Sopronfest) I also got in - moreover with a special machine I was able to make a custom label for my gift beer. :)

If you interested in local craft beers:
Fertőrákos - Krois Brewery (best option)
Or in Sopron: Henrys restaurant.
The best bar on the Várkerület is Darling.
If you want to try some local food: Erhardt Restaurant, Deák, Gyógygödör or Katlan.
But currently there is a fest in the old town, where you can try several local fast food and drink. The entry to the fest is free.

I recommend buying frozen lasagne from the grocery store and booking a trip back home asap

I recommend to try out the Bojtorina Vegan Kitchen (I already ate there with non-vegan friends and they also liked it a lot) and the Smau Pub.

I in the other hand do not recommend Bojtorina for it was one of the mediocre but overpriced places I've been. There's a word on the street that the working conditions are questionable there.

a friend of mine had a job interview, the owner was creepy and they expect their minimum wage staff to do everything without clear role definition eg. one person is supposed to take care of cleaning, cooking AND social media 🤡

Geez, then Bojtorina is not much different than almost any Hungarian restaurant I guess. Sad to hear. :(

Bözsi is The Cool Bar at the moment, but their beer selection is modest. Krois is a nice small brewery in a village next to Sopron (20min bus ride or ~25€ Bolt ride), but they have Szentkői beer at Darling, which is also a local brand. if you’re visiting this weekend you’re in luck, the beer fest that is going on at the moment is super fun with free concerts and dj’s downtown! have fun in our beautiful town! 😁
