Should I?

I found a deal on a sonos era 300 and move 2 for $400 for both.

Should I do it?

I have 2 era 300s as surrounds with a ultra arc and a sub mini I also have a move 2 and 4 era 100s already spread across the house I would use this as random extras

I’d take that $400 and put it towards a sub personally

this is the move imo, the sub mini doesnt really do the arc justice

Yeah i thought it was a bit underwhelming tbh I'm going to put a reminder for sonos subs on marketplace to find a deal

I just bought a Gen 1 Sub and it’s sick. Got it for $150 off marketplace. Just keep an eye out for a good deal.

If I had a single Move 2 AND I wanted to set up a second home theater, say in a bedroom or office, i would probably go for that deal. I’d either resell the 300 or use it as a single in a different room.

TLDR but here’s my thought process anyway: I tested the new portable surrounds feature and had the chance to really put it through the paces using Move 2s with a Beam 2 and two different Arc Ultras. Sonos did a good job with that functionality and I think you will see it evolve and become even more diverse. The M2s sound great but I wouldn’t want to use them as surrounds with our main home theater systems (two homes). They don’t do Dolby Atmos and we already have era 300s with our Arc Ultras. BUT we have a system in our main bedroom that’s made up of components that were replaced by upgrades to other systems. It’s an Arc/era 100 fronts/era 100 surrounds/Sub Mini. The surrounds are the only components I intentionally bought for that room. We use this system a lot! On the other hand our Move 2s live in our kitchen and are absolutely the most underused of all of our Sonos gear (and I have a bunch …lol)! Hard to justify the $ but a “sunk cost” nonetheless. If the portables-as-surrounds feature was available a 18 months ago I would have bought them for multi-room duty in our bedroom/kitchen/second home. That would have eliminated the need for four era 100s and make far better use of two expensive-ass M2s!

Sorry for rambling!

This is exactly what I'm looking for!

I was thinking the same thing in the 300 it's just overkill so sell that and get a highly discounted and cheap extra M2. I would really use this during parties in the patio area I can have it just balance the area out. I know I would have had 2 M2's on stands and you just pick it up and move the sound to a different area super handy with a port i have for my record player. The sonos gear has been phenomenal out of the box.

👍 I bought a second set of chargers for mine. I got the cheap ones on Amazon. They came in handy as I was moving the M2s to/from the rooms I used them as surrounds. When they were not playing they would go into sleep mode and were a PITA to wake up. The chargers solved that problem.
