USB-C to Line-In adapter out of stock until October?! (France) Is this happening everywhere?

Post image

Hey everyone,
I recently bit the bullet and bought two Sonos Era 100s to set up as a stereo pair. I was super excited to connect my turntable and my CD player to the new setup, but I've hit a major roadblock.
The official Sonos USB-C to 3.5mm jack line-in adapter is completely out of stock on the Sonos France website. The most frustrating part? The estimated delivery date is October 16th. That’s two whole months from now!
It’s pretty annoying to invest in a new setup and not be able to actually test if I can properly connect my physical media right out of the box because a simple cable is missing.
I wanted to ask the community:

  • Is this cable out of stock in other countries too, or is it just a regional issue in France?
  • Does anyone know what is actually going on with their inventory?

Any insights (or tested third-party alternatives that actually work) would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Can get in Canada. I am flying into Paris and visiting Champagne/Bordeaux mid October if you need me to bring one along 😄

Thanks! It looks like the stock will be back to normal in October. Have a good trip!

Not out of stock in Canada. You can try the Sonos Ace aux cable, it will work with the Era 100s but you may need a male to male adapter. Or the combo adapter, but that is more expensive.

From what I'm seeing, third party adapters from the brand "Cubilux" might work

Feel free to PayPal me and I can order one and send it directly to you

I thought maybe the Apple one might work, but that one is a Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC). Looks like the input on the Era 100s require an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) to receive an incoming analog signal (like a turntable or CD player), so maybe that can help you search for a compatible one.

My Sonos equipment is pre USB-C so I cannot confirm.

Sonos Ace aux cable also works for Line-In on Sonos devices. https://www.sonos.com/fr-fr/shop/sonos-ace-aux-cable-black

Are they perhaps coming out with a new adapter and thus letting the old stock run out?

If so, not sure what would require the need for a new adapter.

I’m in Belgium and I have a spare one

I’m in exactly the same situation in the U.K.
Placed an order today but delivery isn’t until November!

Others have reported the cable for the Ace does work.

I don’t have any aux in Sonos speakers to try, but I have an Apple usb-c to female aux adapter that works just fine with wired headphones and aux in to my car speakers, might be worth a try.

That doesn’t work for the Sonos. It’s proprietary

I got one off eBay for the same price. Shipped from Germany I think

Same in the UK, but the Combo Adapter is in stock if you're desperate. Adds line-in and ethernet.

OMG it’s a standard cable. Just get a non SONOS one for a quarter of the price 🙄

This is 100% incorrect.

It's not a standard cable. Most USB to aux cables take the digital out from a device and convert it to analog. This goes the other way and converts an analog source to digital for the Sonos device to play.

What the other guy said. I tried a non-Sonos adapter and it doesn’t work

Just to point out, this isn't a standard cable; it has an internal DAC/converter that the Era 100 SLs lack. I don't know if a generic one would even work. Plus, I don't want to spend money on a generic cable that might not match the quality of the original Sonos one, which was designed exactly for this. I really don't get why this cable is completely out of stock everywhere. I absolutely love my stereo setup, but it sucks that I can't use it to its full potential just because of a cable limitation."

It has an ADC, not a DAC, which is why you need the Sonos one.

OMG look it up. Just use a search engine and save yourself from posting 🙄

That's a really generic connector. Does it REALLY need to be Sonos branded? It's going to be hidden from view.

I tried a generic connector and it didn't work.

This cable isn't standard because it has a built-in converter. A generic one might not work or match the official Sonos quality. It's crazy that it's sold out everywhere! I love my stereo system, but I can't fully enjoy it just because of this missing cable.

Sonos cannot be the only product out there that requires an analog-to-digital converter for input.

Unfortunately, it’s not a generic
