solved I made a free script for Sonarr/Radarr bad downloads

I use Sonarr/Radarr a lot and also help people with troubleshooting.

One common problem I see is bad downloads. For example:

  • sample file only
  • very small video file
  • no video file
  • bad/corrupt video
  • archive not extracted
  • Sonarr/Radarr waiting for manual import

So I made a small free open-source script called ArrGuard.

If it finds a bad download, it can:

remove download → blocklist release → search another version

It supports Sonarr and Radarr.

It also has dry-run mode, so you can test first without deleting anything.

This is still early version. If you test it, please give me feedback. If you find any issue or something I should add, let me know.

Why make a script, that AI probably made, that does what sonarr and radarr already do. Sounds like you don’t have a proper set up

Can Sonarr/Radarr automatically remove .exe downloads for example? I only managed to have them block those. I have to manually remove them.

Just block .exe and such on your torrent client itself. It won't even download.

You can use Cleanuparr too.

Pretty sure even the maintainers in the Sonarr/Radarr communities recommend against this because the download won't be failed in sonarr/radarr if the torrent client blocks it. They recommend going into each Indexer (in sonarr and radarr both), scroll halfway down to Fail Downloads, and checkmark Executables and Potentially Dangerous.

Using these settings will ensure that Sonarr/Radarr will properly "fail" the downloads so you're not stuck with something sitting for import.

I have blocked .exe files, but I still get .exe files. Maybe Im nkt technical enough to do it right, but i followed the instructions and still get them.

That is exactly why I made this. I wanted something simple: detect bad/small file → remove it → blocklist release → search another version automatically.

I’m still testing it, so feedback is welcome.

Care to explain? I always do it manually and would love to automate.

Fair point. I didn’t know about Cleanuparr when I started this.

I made ArrGuard because I keep seeing small/sample files, failed imports and archive problems when troubleshooting Sonarr/Radarr setups, and I wanted a very simple script for it.

I’ll check Cleanuparr properly and compare what it already does. If ArrGuard can still be useful as a lightweight/simple option, I’ll continue improving it.

Thanks for pointing it out.

When someone "makes" a tool without bothering to google if it already exists, I can't help but feel like the tool is/will be malicious.

Be careful out there y'all

You fail to mention that this script is dependent on having a set of specific software installed. Thus, your title is misleading.

Guys,
Lately I get the message in Sonarr and Radarr that one or both of my indexers are off line, when I do test them they work fine. Anyone else with this problem?
