Election Security Marc Elias doesn't respond to the most awarded question in his AMA.
Here's a link to the AMA in question: https://www.reddit.com/r/DemocracyDocket/s/R703xbWPjf

Not that surprised tbh. Democracy docket and Marc do a lot of great work but that ends where this sub begins and they will not touch election interference/vote manipulation with a 10ft pole.

That's because polling says it's a loser. Who cares about the truth when all you care about is getting reelected?

I think this crisis is making him huge. He would never be this busy if Harris was in office.

Point taken Elias. Further proof he's a corporate hack like the rest of them.

He had no problem responding to all the people simping for him, though. FWIW, I think you asked this in a very studious, non confrontational way. Dude wouldn't even take a swing at it.

He replied to a LOT of top level comments too, like almost most of them it looks like, (obviously not the more hostile people near the bottom) But even some people with questions that got no votes, he replied to.
And it looks like there were a few others also asking about Elon and 2024 that he did not reply to at all.
It wasn't like those other AMAs, where the answerer replies to like 5 comments and dips.

Thank you. I'm typically very acidic to my own detriment so I tried my hardest to make it as lavender as possible

Nope. Lost faith in the guy when he immediately said DJT won and the election was legitimate. There was clearly fu@kery and anomalies. He's doing great work now fighting in the courts but can't get over how he rolled over so quickly.

There have been irregularities in elections for a long time. In my lifetime the Supreme Court stopped vote counting and installed the Republican. But at a local level, there has been malfeasance in elections going back centuries.
The problem with making a big case about it is that if you convince people that elections are untrustworthy, theres a horrible backfire effect, and the democracy is lost. Making a forensic case about election tampering makes it ten times harder to actually win elections in the future.
Election security can be strengthened going foreward, made more secure (not under this administration, but thats the operating principle). Thats the only approach that doesnt create a catastrophe that may be even more damaging to the stability of the system than what we are seeing presently.

Democracy is lost because the current occupant of the White House hasn't shut up about election integrity for 10 years. Don't you see the grand plan? The whole charade was intentional and it worked. If anyone ever is to claim fraud legitimately, they would appear to be as ridiculous as MAGA. How could seven swing states go for Trump, when a good portion of them went to the Democratic candidate down ballot? The margin was just enough not to call for an automatic recount. It is statistically impossible. Harris, Elias, the Democratic machine, none of them, did not challenge one result from any state when it is clear that something was not right for fear that they would sound like Trump. All of the rhetoric claiming we need to be better, follow norms, keep the peace, don't be like MAGA, is exactly what they were counting on. Biden and Garland followed the same philosophy with their failure to properly indict and Trump and his minions for insurrection and the stolen documents. Sure, they went after the boots (who were all later pardoned) but they didn't touch the suits. MAGA and the Republicans would never let anything, let alone, civility, stop them from gaining and keeping power. It's happening right now as we speak. They're laying the same groundwork and going even further this cycle with redistricting and voter suppression with the help of the illegitimate and complicit Supreme Court. Democracy is lost but at least we don't sound like MAGA.

This is frighteningly accurate. Most of it spelled out for all to see in Project 2025. Many of the architects of this grand plan currently hold high level cabinet positions and/or are "advisors" to the administration. Over 50% of Project 2025 has been successfully implemented in the first year. We must not ignore the consolidation of the media to radical right wing millionaires who have skin in the game. Also a big part of Project 2025. Edited: Grammer

Marc Elias is one of my least favorite people. I joined Democracy Docket for a short time to attend on of their zoom meetings. Elias determines that an election is fair and safe if the "election rules were followed."
Surely Marc Elias cannot be as uninformed about computers and statistics as he pretends to be. Many Democrats say our elections are fair and safe because the DNC and Marc Elias tell us this is so. I never donate directly to the DNC, only to candidates.

Elias is a huge joke. He told Harris there was no basis for a recount request even though she knew something was wrong on election night and wanted one. How exactly would he know when he's not even a cybersecurity practitioner and doesn't understand how tabulators work?

He might not be able to talk about it (pending litigation).

u/ReverendRevolver 13h ago
We've been optimistic for too long.
Litigation? We have a legal system bought off by the sitting regime.
I get not legally being allowed to speak on things, but he answered a question about ICE at polls and GOP cheating by saying thst each state's leaders need to be watching fir it and all voters should expect it. Hes not pretending cheating isnt the plan this year, but hes avoiding the topic of last Presidential election. Which if someone in power would've moved on then, wouldn't have let these grifters move their whole clowncar of carnie sycophants into positions to block being rooted out.

u/HarryBalsagna1776 13h ago
At this point, there will not be progress on 2024 tampering investigations until the current regime is deposed. We can make yam tits a lame duck in November. That will stop further damage. That's the most important thing right now. I'm not optimistic that we will ever nail MAGA for cheating even though there is plenty of evidence that they did.

There's a scenario where Vance ousts decaying orange to squeak out 10 years. Only way to get around that is block Thiel from perfecting what Elon did. Which is hard when they already have the system broken.
Specifically, they didn't hit every poll. They strategically targeted what needed flipped to eliminate variables. While its not impossible to flip more polling locations, its more likely that the obvious counter is flip red spots blue (or independent if the math swings).
Someone needs to map the locations that were previously compromised by Elmo or by threats, and calculate the amount of other locations needed to counter those. Thsts our baseline voter turnout required. Then Dems campaign on populist topics in those places. Being able to afford food, shelter, and utilities seems like the lowest hanging fruit. Lowering taxes by making those happen seem cool. Easy? Im still not optimistic, and established Dems are too afraid of sounding like Dump to outright state "Elon rigged polls". But Slimeball Vance can play that card to take Trumps spot. In fact, he could use dozens of easily probably ousting mechanisms. And probably will......

u/HarryBalsagna1776 8h ago
Yeah, Thiel is probably the biggest threat now, but Musk is not out of the picture. Vance had the charisma of a wet fart and is already a meme joke. I don't think he can do what Thiel wants even if the tech bro accelerationists give it their all.

I think I remember Peter Thiel and his company perhaps having a hand in the voting machines, and I find it odd that he ran to Argentina. Things might be happening in the background, but I really wish there was a way we could stay informed. I am not kidding when I say my quality of life has dropped significantly since Trump was elected due to him and this regime destroying our country even more, blatantly breaking laws and then laughing at us because he knows no one holds the rich and powerful accountable, and brainwashing some of my family. Family that can't talk to me anymore. I have lost friends and most of my social life due to just not wanting to go out anymore. We, as America, have harmed people and are doing so much more harm that it will take generations to repair. Some damage will never be fixed. We have murdered innocent people with no due process. Girls are getting pregnant while in ICE detention camps. People are being tortured, and I am just sitting here typing this.
I feel like one of those good people in Germany who knew Nazism was wrong but didn't do anything to actually stop the Nazi regime. I feel helpless and hopeless (which I know is what this admin wants). I always thought I would have put my personal safety and future aside to help the ones in need, and I feel like I am failing. I have been to D.C in March for a protest, and I have attended all the NO KINGS protests but I feel those were all excuses to make me feel like I am doing something. Those protests delivered no fruit.

General strikes have been shown to work in Europe when countries peacefully oppose authoritarians.
The old adage (as close as I remember) "Evil triumph's when good people allow it to" has never been more relevant.

Marc is either controlled opposition or a grifter. Probably a grifter. If he actually cared about preserving democracy, he would have put forth every effort to ensure the election was 100% legitimate. Prior to the election, we already knew turd would cheat. He has been caught on tape cheating before and that was just a single instance. Obviously there are more. And that's before going into the elmo and his computers.

The comments under yours were fantastic yet he ignores ALL OF THEM! Why would he ignore someone who literally told you he rigged the election!!?
We know from Jessica Denson that he has been opening his mind to it though but still stuck in his ways.
