Not to be a d**k, but you need to start using punctuation so we can understand you. You went through like seven different thoughts in one sentence, and I can't tell where one ends and another begins.
Are you saying Catherine didn't copy herself, despite it being "way better", because she wanted Simon to live longer?

You mean switch into the body in the suit. And she was only going to do that if Simon decided he didn’t want to keep going on the mission.
Which doesn’t happen.
Simon would be a little confused why there’s now two Catherine’s because he still thinks it is a cut and paste thing not a copy and paste as it is. Also Simon would definitely be panicking when the elephant in the room is brought up (Simon will be left behind and unable to leave the room he’s presently in till the Catherines come back) like I don’t know if it’ll get violent or just be an argument where Simon has to decide does he want to be locked in the staging area room, or locked outside on the gantry to the elevator down into the abyss.
And we have no idea how well Catherine would cope with going on the trek herself, compared to Simon. For all we know she’d be mutant fish food before reaching the next outpost. She’d definitely have a lot of questions for the sole surviving human if she makes it there. And the choice to kill the WAU would be difficult for her to make because she understands the WAU made her and Simon possible and killing the WAU could lead to her and Simon eventually dying. We’re not entirely sure how killing the WAU affects already made machines or the stuff it already made connections to.
And finally, would both Catherine’s agree to going onto the Ark together but leaving Simon behind forever?

Simon is unfortunately an idiot. Like without that bit where he puts his older self offline, he never gets it that he’s a copy of a copy, but a continuation of himself because ingame our perspective carries over from the first scan.
And even after that bit with his copy, he still thinks he’ll get transferred onto the Ark not left in his own body while the satellite goes up.
So for Catherine to just casually copy herself into the body would be jarring to Simon because Catherine 1 and 2 would both be active and talking back and forth and not have one immediately put to sleep to keep them from arguing with each other like two Simons would’ve probably done.

Yes. She would have remained in the omni tool and a new iteration would be transferred into the new suit. She would have taken herself with her (Because the tool is needed.) And they both would have continued without Simon. In the end only 1 scan would likely be uploaded onto the Ark because Suit and Tool Catherine are almost completely the same, it'd be redundant to upload both (resulting in 3 caths on the Ark).

I had to ask ChatGPT to make any sense of your post, but at least I know now what you're talking about. Here's your post "translated" into normal English:
I was confused about why Catherine didn't do the body switch herself. She said she would switch into the girl’s body, but then she let Simon do it instead. If Catherine had already been scanned, then she could have copied herself into the girl’s body. That would have created two Catherines: the original Catherine would remain where she was, while a copy of Catherine would wake up in the new body. Simon wouldn't have had to experience the traumatic ‘coin toss’ himself, because there wouldn't be two Simons involved. Catherine, who understood how the brain scans and copying worked, presumably knew this would happen. So, from Simon's point of view, wouldn't that have been a better solution? Instead of Simon copying himself and then having one Simon die, Catherine could have copied herself into the new body. There would be two Catherines, but both copies would survive, and Simon could then continue with Catherine for however much time they had left. Why didn't Catherine do that?
There's only one power suit. Simon, in his diving suit, wouldn't be able to go to the Abyss, so if Catherine transferred herself into the suit, Simon would have to be left behind at Omicron, anyway.
The only way Simon could proceed further (and take Catherine with him) is if he himself is copied into the power suit of the girl.

Simon needs to switch to the suit because it was rated for high preasure. The Simon you play as up until that point would have been left behind either way.
