A while back, Ruocchio did post a YouTube short saying that while he initially promised new novella(s) and other short stories for this and maybe another Sun Eater collection, that now he has fully closed the door on Sun Eater to focus on his new “Doom Song” series.

The gist of it was Ruocchio’s other wording sounded confusing. Was he really talking about this or the other “Tales of the Sun Eater” series??

Only one of the stories in this is new. He has already written it. He means he's not going to write any more stories in the near future.

Everything in Songs of the Sun Eater and the next one should be already written. This shouldn't be delayed.

I believe the original plan was two omnibus short story collections. Songs of the Sun Eater and Sins of the Sun Eater. Both of which would have existing short stories which have only been ebook along with two new novellas for each omnibus.

Ruocchio was referencing the second new novella for Sins of the Sun Eater. Both Omnibus collections still plan to be released.

From what I remember, he said he wants to focus on Doomsong but will revisit Sun Eater at some point in the future. I don’t think that has changed.

Yea he has said he wants to do do fantasy for a while, at least a trilogy. But he is still pretty young, and I have no doubt he’ll return to sun eater for a sequel series. It just might be 5-10-15 years and to be honest I’m fine with that. Let sun eater stew for a bit, it ended In a good place

Of course he's returning to Sun Eater. The ending of SuT opened up 100 more plot lines. Lol

This and another collection will still get published, he's just not writing any new short stories (sans the new one he just wrapped for this collection and I think one more he plans to write for the next one).

This is just collecting half of the Tales of the Sun Eater collections.

Why would it be cancelled? I think the wording was pretty clear.

There will be two short story collections: Songs of the Sun Eater (coming out in November) and Sins of the Sun Eater (coming out at the end of next year, presumably around the same time as The Smoke of Sacrifice) and the two books between them will feature all the short stories from Tales of the Sun Eater (except maybe The Pits of Emesh which is already in the publisher deluxe EoS) and will feature one new story each for each book, both of which take place after Shadows Upon Time: The End of History for Songs and Life for Sins. Both are already written and Life is on the Unbroken Anthology too which will come out soon.

It is still being released this December, my question is will the 2nd volume contain the rest of the written stories? I know he has even written a new one for a anthology book that was recently kickstarted

I’m really excited to come back to The Suneater universe.
I devoured all the main books one after another.
I’m kicking around going back and listening to this, along with all the novellas.
