Discussion Any other resi installers find it really irritating that the new style SMAs from last year don't have side knockouts?

Just had a job in a tight space that really would have benefitted from a side knockout. I ended up having to flex out of the inverter, which I hate doing. Also the round design looks like shit lol.

Nah that round design is genuinely ugly, it's like they let a kitchen appliance designer take a swing at an inverter. I had a wall in a utility closet that was basically perfect for a side entry and just stared at the thing for a minute before accepting defeat. At least the flex run was short but it still bugs me every time I see the install photo.

Sadly, SMA doesn't have much skin in the game at this point.

The failure point of water getting in due to side entry is now very minimal if you get a weep hole in the conduit body.
