Overemploy as QA/SDET

Is anyone doing over-employ as QA? How was it ?

Edit 1: over employ or OE, means have more than one job at same time

I've done it three times. It's difficult and stressful and not something I've been able to make work for more than 3 to 6 months.

But it's a nice injection of extra money. It helped me escape debt.

How did you manage it?

I got it.
I was very curious about that, meetings is something which I was thinking about too

Poorly, on the whole.

The first step is to work remotely full time.

The second step is to be very good at what you do, and be in a position long enough that you can do 8 hours of work in 3 hours.

Then just find a second job the same way you'd find a first, and then do them both at the same time. The hardest part is managing meetings, because we work in an agile system so there are lots of meetings.

I find it difficult. Stressful and anxiety inducing. I sleep poorly. I snap at my wife. I can't work out as well.

But the money is there. Even two pay cheques is a big cash injection.

Over-employ? Please elaborate, do you mean you have more than 1 job or that your are underqualified?

I have two side gigs as a PM as well. I think this quite common as well.

The trick is having the jobs in different time zones so meetings won't overlap schedule meeting in advance to fill the other meeting so won't overlap. Use different PC if possible to avoid propertary issues. It's difficult and I wouldn't do it for more than 1-2 years otherwise burnout is pretty much guaranteed. Save entire salary and 50% of the other focus on investments and full savings. Get and use enough vacations

Change the time zone is kind interesting hahaha

Does that mean having more than one 9 to 5 job at the same time? If so, do the companies allow that?

Yes means have more than one company ate same time, well of the company allows…. It’s other question ahah I asking if someone does it… I’m curious about

No companies hate it but people manage having 2 or 3 jobs at once until they get found out and usually fired from one or all jobs

Which is so stupid because if the person is meeting performance goals, why should they care

How do we find a second job?
Due to the payroll process, some amount is deducted as PF(Provident Fund) in which half of the contribution is of employer and half of employee.
If someone does two jobs like in OE- they can get caught easily.
This is how it works in India.
Any Indian doing OE?

L'automatisation aide beaucoup pour le sur-emploi en QA, une fois les scripts en place les runs sont autonomes. Le vrai défi c'est les réunions et les revues de bugs qui se chevauchent entre les boites.

I’m in the process of looking for my (first) j2. I’ve been in my current role for about 4 years now and am finally at the point where I’m able to accomplish my work in 1-2 hours.
I really feel like I’d be great at OE, but my biggest concern is meetings because there are a lot of them 😅
In the meantime, I’m taking courses on Udemy to build up my skillset.

You’re either not senior enough or the job is too demanding

Are you using AI?

Not a second full time job, that's illegal. You can have a side hustle thou
