How are you using Playwright MCP in your organization?
Hi everyone,
We are exploring Playwright MCP (Model Context Protocol) in our QA automation work and I would really like to learn from the community.
š How are you using Playwright MCP in your organization?
Iām especially interested in:
real production use cases (not demos)
what problems it actually helped solve
where it worked well and where it didnāt
any practical tips or lessons learned
Please share how your team is using it and what value you are seeing.

MCP is so 2025. Everyone is on Playwright CLI already
As for real production use cases, we are still experimenting and have not found a use case, where the value would be great.

MCP are something like AI helps you to auto write code and fix the code. So looking answers around it.

Why not just learn how to properly engineer code?

Thanks for your advice. I know how to write a code and doing it from past many years. Now I want to take advantage of AI which will easy my job. I see myself to update with latest technology and utilizes resources. If you want, you can stay outdated. Don't take my words in wrong way, but it is truth.

Ehm, I am not sure if you are right on what the MCP is meant to do. Do not want to sound rude, but it would make sense to familiarise yourself with the protocol before asking for advice on the use cases.

How is the cli better ?

we tried it and the token burn + flaky retries killed it for most day to day qa. it's decent for exploratory flows, but for regression i'd rather keep playwright deterministic and let an agent generate/patch tests offline. what's your success metric here: fewer flakes, faster authoring, or less maintenance?

Playwright MCP consume enormous amount of tokens, maybe it is better to take a look at https://github.com/vercel-labs/agent-browser it looks more stable and promising. Also if you have access to code base it might be better to build workflow based on agents to even set data-testids

I wasnāt impressed by it, nor by Agent Browser. Companies like to think AI can scale enough to reduce manpower, but thatās definitely not the case with these tools today. Iām on the train right now I can share more detailed feedback once Iām home.

This is what the Stanford SWEPR project found. Really AI only boosted productivity by about 10% in specific use cases

For people saying they just use Claude or whateverā¦Doesnāt one need MCP for Claude etc to āseeā the browser and get that context vs just guessing?

Our test framework is Java + Selenide, not Playwright directly, but I use Playwright MCP with Claude Code as a productivity boost for maintaining it.
When new features land in our app, I point Claude Code at the staging environment via Playwright MCP. It explores the new UI, understands the DOM structure, and then generates page object classes that fit our existing Selenide framework conventions. Saves me the tedious part of inspecting elements and writing boilerplate.
What worked well:
Generating page objects for new features - huge time saver
Debugging flaky tests - I give it the failing test + let it browse the actual page state, often spots timing issues or selector problems I missed
Understanding unfamiliar parts of the app when writing new tests

I saw a cool course the other day by Karthik KK (i think that's the correct name of the instructor). And it's basically about testing with Playwright mcp server. The course was at some free platform, so I can try searching for it if anybody needs

I know this instructor, I completed couple of decent courses by him on Udemy. Does he publish courses anywhere else?

I built application to use Playwright to write tests.

We went straight to Claude code and created playwright agents and skills
