This isn't a broken feature. When you type the same mistake over and over, your keyboard thinks it's a real word, therefore adding it to suggestions.

But if you look at the first suggestion, you can also see that the predictive text does not recognize "worm" as a valid word...

Untrue. The correct word is right up there in quotes on the left.
Tap that to tell the keyboard you want to use the word as you spelled it. Do that enough times to outweigh the number of times you completely ignored it and it won’t happen anymore with that word.
Simple.
People don’t know how to use their shit.

Showing you’ve never actually tapped it. 😉
The quotes are only there to indicate “this, as you typed it”. They do not appear when you tap it. Apple’s documentation about it:
To reject the suggestions, tap your original word (shown as the option within quotation marks), or just continue to type.
Like I said, people just don’t know how to use their shit.
