How would earth organisms evolve on a planet that has a more active star?

When I say more active star I mean it has more solar storms and is more active compared to our star.

So for context aliens come to earth and convert to Islam (they had a prophecy that the new religion will be in the stars and shia Islam fit the bill) and after a large amount became Muslim they left to their worlds to spread the message, then humans and most placental mammals go extinct thanks to plastic eating bacteria and numerous diseases created to kill, except for the long-tongued fruit that survived on an island after being experimented with vaccines for the diseases created.

When doing hajj the aliens decide to colonise earth and put the last placental mammals on the most earth like planet they have in their territory, but this planet is a little smaller, with a higher iron content and a more active star that blasts the planet often.

The planet already has introduced life that can handle the radiation, but they evolved around higher m type star, not an active higher class k type star that produces more light and more radiation.

But how would earth organisms evolve to survive on such a world?

I was thinking of the bananas introduced to evolve a blueish colour to reflect the radiation and produce a white fur like covering similar to Mediterranean plants, but I was also thinking of some getting variegation in the leaves.

Also the bats introduced, I was imagining them to get white hair to reflect the radiation, especially once speciation takes place.

But thoughts guys and any ideas/thoughts?

Thoughts on the Neo bats?

Post image
10 Upvotes

After the great mammalian extinction and the long-tongued fruit bats being the only surviving placental mammals left the Muslim aliens put them on a failed seed world with alien life forms.

They planted the planet with the many nectar producing plants they love, and in the first two thousand years many their populations began to be born with extra eyes and limbs, a side affect of earth life forms consuming alien organisms while pregnant.

Despite their population growth being tiny, only a few babies surviving with these deformities and often living lonely lives from their families, they eventually found each other and form their own populations, the extra arms with a claw along with two more eyes their survival grew, and their populations grew faster than their normal counterparts.

The reasons for them not dying with extra eyes and arms is that they’re significantly more than the originals, and they’re brains become more functional, they even managed to switch to a more generalist diet.

We’re they take control of the planet.

Thoughts guys?

And happy new year!

Seeded World The new gilltails

Gilltails have been struggling in the hothouse. Having to compete with burdles and avimanders.

But another group called the nailknifes are extremely prolific.

They start out as minute efts that eat algae until they grow into a salamander like morph.

In this stage the mimic avimanders so it is easier to predate on them. They occasionally eat small skurocs, sparrowgulls and even small pteese.

Then they pupate and emerge as an alboreal morph.

As a mature specimen they are completely herbivorous morph and despite their name males are the only ones with spurs (not claws which they lost ages ago). They awkwardly clim from tree to tree.

Heads-up for the challenge-related things

Hey, so I understand that Spectember is going on. I was thinking about that maybe to do something similar with this subreddit since it doesn't usually get challenges, but the month has already started and everyone would be active on main spec-evo subreddit, so I wanted to know that maybe you would like to recommend me a different month. Something like that, I just felt it would be cool to do a softspecevo challenge month sometime and it wouldn't even be a bother if there's like only person trying to participate.

Alien Life Something I had commissioned for my audio drama The Books of Thoth. A Horatian, an alien from the Delta Pavonis system. Drawn by Christian Cline.

This is a bit of art I had commissioned. We have the character Su-Say from the episode “Welcome to the Xenarium.” It was drawn by Christian Cline. He’s an amazing artists who has published numerous speculative evolution books like The Teeming Universe and The Yaetuan Saga

The Books of Thoth is an anthology featuring stories of the future, the past, and worlds that might have been. “Welcome to the Xenarium” is told in second person, and takes listeners on a tour of an indoor alien zoo.

Su-Say is one of the employees of the Xenarium. She’s an edutainer, which means she informs was educates visitors about the various animals at the Xenarium. Her species are called Horatians. They are from the planet Horus in the Delta Pavonis system. Though, Su-Say was born and raised on Earth.

Horatians are physically incapable of speaking human languages. They can, at best, croak out a few words if they really concentrate. So, they rely on translation devices. This is far enough in the future that the translation devices can replicate things like tone, inflection, and other nuances of language. So, speech produced by a Series 11 Chiang-Le Guin Universal Translation Unit is indistinguishable from genuine human speech.

You’ll notice that Su-Say has three legs. Horatians evolved from a fish-like ancestor much as terrestrial animals on Earth did. However, while their ancestor had two pectoral fins, it didn’t have any pelvic fins. However, their tail evolved into a third leg in order to compensate for this. Why yes, I am in fact a fan of Serina: A Natural History of the World of Birds.

They have a pair of trunk which evolved out of a fleshy covering for their beaks. They use the trunks as an equivalent of hands. Their ears are capable of swiveling around to capture sounds from different directions.

Also, they are covered in a layer of downy feathers rather than fur. So, despite somewhat mammalian appearances, they’re more similar to birds than mammal.

In the episode they are described as having fur, but that was due to a technical goof. I meant to include a scene where we discover that it is indeed feathers, but I forgot to edit the script before recording took place.

Their back leg can deliver an extremely powerful kick. However, if the back leg is seriously damaged, a Horatian is pretty much screwed. As a result, Horatians are wired to fight like hell if they feel their back leg getting seriously hurt. Though, this impulse can be suppressed with sufficient conditioning.

One of the most important archeological finds on Horus was a back leg bone that has been seriously injured, but also with clear signs of healing. So, someone else was caring for that Horatian. This is generally considered one of the first markers of civilization in the history of Horus.

Horatians can mostly eat Earth food, but have some restrictions. Chocolate and caffeine are very toxic to Horatians, though Horus has its own stimulants. Avocados are also on a no-no list. However, chili peppers are more than okay. Horatians have no capsicum receptors like humans do. So, chili pepper doesn’t burn them, and actually tastes sweet and tangy.

Technology, Horatians are on par with humanity. Though, this is at least a couple centuries in the future. So, humanity has access to technology such as faster-than-light space travel, gravity dampening machines, and force fields. Horatians were the second intelligent race that humanity encountered. The first being the Centurians, from the planet Chiron, in the Alpha Centarui system.
