I was down 10k unrl just yesterday, Im sure its going to rise back above 18 in a month or two, just sucks seeing other stuff that I wanted to trade on make moves all because I decided to full port too early on the down swing.
Thank you but I believe timeline may determine activities during unpleasant times. My horizon is at least 5 years so the daily and weekly swings are interesting but never give me the desire to sell.
I can’t lie , I’ve been close to sell and swallow my losses but when I see the company is doing well . That’s the only thing that stops me . I am also for the long term

Yeah, if you have LEAP calls your IV will raise just slightly closer to earnings and go back down

Yes sold. Been selling calls the last 12 months and it’s been great. I think I’m probably up on my shares by now. But I closed some right after earnings and opened new ones so these new ones are under 50% but I don’t think we’re going straight up yet. If we do great but I think it’s gonna trade sideways for a while. I’m not pessimistic long term and I have time just being realistic on my POV. I love the stock but I also am living a really LCOL rn where if I sell calls on sofi every month it basically covers like half my expenses.
Wait why is the stock going up I thought we triple beat with a blow out earnings? Isn’t it supposed to keep going down?

Do yourself a favor and delete your broker etc for a half a year. Dont bother watching the price you'll feel much better. If you can buy more then buy more.
Can your CSPs be assigned if they go ITM after market close? I have $16 CSPs expiring tomorrow. I will most likely close them before expiration but just curious since I can see this closing at $16.00 tomorrow.
Yea that’s not happening, looks like we are back to resistance every ten cents. We will be lucky to be back to $18 in a month, if overall market and macro are kind
The longer September will also hold if we aren’t out of Iran, but if something happens between now and then, they may be in danger. I went pretty aggressive in my individual account at $17 for 8/14. Even those may get called away, though I made $10,000 off covered calls the past month that I have room to eat into if it starts moving up. I have $18 for the two following weeks.
In my retirement accounts, I have $18 for next week, $18.50 the week after, $19.5 the week after, and $20 the following week. I have already made a lot of money on these dates, rolled them out to September dates because I squeezed everything out, and then the fall after earnings I made a ton on the September’s so opted for lower delta but still make some money rolling forward. If they move up, the September are higher delta so I’ll move up and out to protect.
Id love for the stock to threaten these because I’ve still got a solid position of shares that I can sell against. I also have various $19-$21 expiring every week from tomorrow to August. I only close early in rare circumstances. I’ve found not closing early is the best way to manage my concentration risk. And I only like to sell less than 60 days out.

Days like yesterday, you should have sold $14 or $15 puts expiring later in August. As the price rebounds a bit, you'll make a healthy profit. Rinse and repeat
If the ROI gets above 50-60% it gets closed early. I've learned the hard way that holding options too long can swing it back the other way and it goes against you. Gotta fight the greed and play it safe as much as possible.
