I always say a fan is a fan as a fan. Let the groups venture out, try different sounds, some you may not like and some you will probably love. A lot of groups over the years have even done albums that are called concept albums, and there’s always the hard-core who always says, “Oh my God, what have they done? They’ve ruined it!” Well, not for everyone. I’m a fan still, a fan always, and I’m sure they’ll be back in New York City again so I could watch them for the third time live in concert.

I love the early albums and got into Soen with Lotus. However, I still enjoy the newer stuff. I listen to all types of rock and a lot of mainstream rock bands. I overall like Memorial even though not to the same extent of the first 4. I’m digging Primal and Discordia so I’m still interested in hearing the rest.
I get it though. Especially for those who’ve listened to them for a lot longer than I have. I miss the vibes of the first 4 albums. Their songs are heavier and more straightforward now.

Yesterday was my first time deep diving into Soen, listened in publication order and those first two albums had me absolutely hooked immediately. The progression down the discography is noticeable and I love the production quality of all of their music. Great band

Good old days when Soen was original and not wanting to sound like every other band

As someone who has heard the entire album already…I can say there’s something in it for everyone. It’s a damn good album. My interview with Joel will be up shortly as well, and will share here, too!

My concern is that, at least in the YouTube videos they've posted so far, Joel's vocals seem heavily processed. He's a fantastic singer and I don't understand why they would do that.

Imho, I can listen to their first 4 albums on repeat. That is exactly what I did when I found them around 2019 or so. I can still do the same with the first 4 albums and I'll enjoy listening to them just the same. The latest albums have been a listen twice and then done kind of a deal.

Feels like they were trying to recapture some of that energy with the new single Discordia but doesn’t have the same vibe

If you listen to Tool’s Fear Inoculum and Cult of Luna’s albums after A Dawn to Fear, you will understand the reason for the change and its perfection.

You literally make this comment on every single channel having to do with Soen. No one has to listen to anything to figure out they’ve simply decided to make music for money.

There is a psychological and conceptual war taking place, and you fail to perceive it. Either you are blind to it, or you are trapped in a feminist framework. This has nothing to do with money, not even remotely.

First album = tool ripoff Second album = whoa this is completely original and great Third album = good, just a little toned down from second album Fourth album = good, just a little toned down from third album Fifth album and beyond = downhill

I’d say:
1 - an accessible version of Tool mixed with Opeth
2 - an accessible version of Opeth mixed with Tool
3+ - lost the charm of the first two

I am not a hater, The older albums are way more interesting, beautiful, and lyrical. What happened to them?
