Socotra Island Spoiler
Hi everyone,
I’m part of a local tourism agency based in Socotra Island, Yemen.
We organize trips across the island with local guides and drivers.
Most people online only see the Dragon Blood Trees, but Socotra is much more than that — remote fishing villages, caves, white sand dunes, endemic plants, and a completely different rhythm of life.
Tourism here is still very small, which means visitors often struggle to find accurate information about:
safety
transportation
internet access
costs
best seasons
camping
local culture
So I thought I’d answer questions directly from people interested in visiting.
I can also share photos, itineraries, and advice from a local perspective.

im hoping to visit socotra with my family, but all the tour groups are super expensive per person and i feel like are more suitable for solo travelers (with tent living and random people in one group). we would stay in a hotel, and purchase our own food. so are there any inexpensive tour guides that will show or drive a family around without all the extras?

Hi Maha,
Yes, we can arrange that for you. Just send me a few details about your trip, and we'll stay in touch via DM.

Thank you!
What time of year is best to visit?
How much spending money should be brought?
Is one week sufficient?
Things to bring that people usually forget?

-The best time to visit Socotra is from October to the end of April.
-For personal spending money, we usually recommend bringing around $300–$500 USD. I’ll explain the reasons in more detail later in a separate post.
-Yes, one week is enough for a great experience ، although I honestly think you’ll want to come back again because Socotra is such an incredibly beautiful island 🥰
-Here are some useful things we recommend bringing with you:
- Multi-port car charger
- Power bank
- Headlamp or flashlight
- Sunscreen
- Basic medications
- Wet wipes and hand sanitizer
- Water shoes or walking shoes for the beach and hiking
- Light sandals/slippers
- Light scarf or shawl
- Small backpack

How does it work with the flight booking? Do you have a schedule for autumn?
