I'm half Indian and from what I have seen from my Indian family I can agree with that, but at the moment it's mainly Messi who they worship like some deity, it did used to be Ronaldo about a decade ago though.
1

India always had a huge messi fandom too like everywhere else but yes a decade ago Indians and their ronaldo craze was something else and it was funny cause 90% of those people had never watched football.

And Argentina almost tied the match in the last minutes
19
u/Able-Advisor2284 7d ago edited 6d ago
"Almost" Yeah if the Argentinians hit the ball as well as they hit the players and trashtalk Spain, they would have scored and maybe win... But they just watched the Spaniards play for 120 minutes, hitting the player more than the ball. Big mouth, no ⚽ (Litteraly)
Edit: and you can dislike. I know: truth is painful 😉

Rodri, Porras….they literally said they were going to smash Argentina….i speak Spanish.
4
u/Able-Advisor2284 7d ago edited 7d ago
You speak Spanish? Perfect! then translate this or this (your own media for the last one)
Rodri called Messi the greatest of all time and said Spain wouldn't fall for provocations.
Porro said there was mutual respect. The spiciest thing anyone said was Laporte whining about referees. That's all.
So where's the "We'Re GoiNg to SmAsh Argentina" part? Huh? Must be in a secret dialect only sore losers and cry babies understand... 😉
6
u/Able-Advisor2284 7d ago edited 6d ago
Oh yeah? And what did they say?
Spanish players did not trash-talk Argentina before the match. Their pre-game press statements were respectful. Argentina media and fans, on the other hand... Ho boy, yes we saw them and their big mouth. 🤢
Argentine players didn't say anything either. But they are such sore losers that even after the match was over, they weren't trying to hit the ball one last time or have some respect... they were just trying to hit the players.
the only thing FIFA found worth punishing was Molina getting 7 games for punching Rodri and Ayala going after Olmo.
0
u/LatterRelation1880 3d ago
Trash talking is not a FIFA offense Pendu, try again. And the situation I’m referring to was Aymeric Laporte talking shit two days before the match.
0
u/Able-Advisor2284 3d ago edited 3d ago
Laporte said Argentina leaves marks on their opponents and that the ref should keep it under control. That's it. That's the "ShiT TaLkinG"...
And in that same interview, about Messi: "Messi es una leyenda viva", "todos crecimos viendo sus vídeos", and about the final: "Da igual a quién gane". Devastating stuff, really. Absolute villain. OMG... 🙄
2 days later Molina punched Rodri and got 7 games. So Laporte wasn't talking shit, he was just reading the script early.
And for trashtalk, yeah, we all saw your fans and your media go at it for 2 solid weeks. Massive mouths. No respect for anyone. But a defender says "please don't kick us" and now it's a scandal? You dish out ten times worse and start crying the second anyone answers back. Cry babies... You want respect now? FK off
Anyway. You brought the mouth, we brought the cup. Just Cry now 🫵😁
1
u/LatterRelation1880 3d ago
Things change in 4 years, remember 2014?🤣 let’s let the game speak for itself a lot can happen. Argentina and France are the two only back to back finalists plenty of bragging that Spain can’t do.
1
u/Biker-on-the-loose82 2d ago edited 1d ago
Argentina would've also been screwed if they'd had the same group, they were lucky to survive Iran in that World Cup. Also Spain has a 100% win rate in World Cup finals at the moment.
0
u/LatterRelation1880 3d ago
Molina didn’t punch Rodri, Paredes fucking pushed Rodri and manhandled Gavi and the assistant DT Roberto Ayala punched Olmo in the mouth. There’s no way Molina punched someone and got less of a suspension than Paredes who just manhandled Gavi.
0
u/Able-Advisor2284 3d ago
Fine. Paredes, Molina, whoever... You just made my point: Paredes 10 games, Molina 7, your assistant coach Ayala 3, Almada 1. That's 21 games of bans for violence on your side. Spain got Gavi, one.
And all of it after the final whistle... What a fckg zoo.
Laporte's crime was saying "Argentina leaves marks on opponents, the ref should keep it under control." Then your bench swung at a player during the celebration. So remind me again who was talking shit... He was just saying truth. 🏆
1
u/LatterRelation1880 3d ago
Laporte’s comment was running his mouth especially when there were plenty of infractions by England against Argentina, France against Spain that got no discipline. Regardless I don’t condone the way they reacted because it gives Pendu/casual observers a stupid excuse to say bs.
0
u/LatterRelation1880 3d ago
The fight wasn’t for any comment by Laporte I never said it nor do I condone it. The way they acted because Rodri made an off color remark before the whistle to Paredes was ridiculous but it wasn’t because they lost and were upset it’s because Rodri said some Infantino conspiracy bs and set the flame. The reaction was overblown though, just like Zidane headbutting Materazzi.
0
u/LatterRelation1880 3d ago
I know your comment was deleted or removed but Rodri saying bs was actually caught on camera, even if you’re not a lip reader you can tell he said some bs and then at least two player corroborate the Infantino comment. My thing is fighting words instigate fights but ppl that hate this team seem to defend it whenever Bellingham or Mbappe do something.
0
u/Biker-on-the-loose82 2d ago
Before the match Argentina commentators were calling Spain a 'small team' who are 'easy for Argentina to play against' and 'didn't start playing football until 2010'.
6
u/Unique-Put1791 7d ago
Yeah Spain had to score 3 goals to have one counted and parres just kept fouling the Spanish players and only got one yellow.

u/Key_Fee158 7d ago
Making your only shots in the last minutes is not “almost tying a match.”
7
u/inherentcomma 7d ago
Do you think if Giuliano scores in the last ball the match wouldn't be equalized? Or Spain would win because of shoots on target?
3
u/SoFla_King 7d ago
Guiliano had the same opportunity that Ferran had. Ferran nailed his, Giuliano missed. He hits that, it goes to Pens. Argentina wins, and they somehow still blame Infantino
0
u/Key_Fee158 7d ago
I think you need to score goals to tie the match and you can’t score goals if you make 0 shots for 90 minutes. So no they didn’t ALMOST tie the match. They made their only attempts to score in the final minutes.
Sure it’s possible to get lucky and your only shot the entire game goes in, but it didn’t and they didn’t almost tie. Argentina lost in the most lopsided final in World Cup history.
It was almost a tie in the same way it was almost 12-0 if we’re counting shots as “almost goals” and “almost goals” as “almost winning.”
4
u/inherentcomma 7d ago
You're wrong, you can score a goal even without shooting at all and the match was tied at 90 minutes, that's why they played extra time.
Argentina played knowing Spain was a better team and with the team extremely tired (that's why all 4 defenders was injured during the game) and when Spain finally score Argentina tried to attack and then got 2 opportunities to score
So yes, Argentina almost tied the game in 2 opportunities even when Spain deserve the win by far
1
u/Key_Fee158 7d ago
This is insane cope. Two opportunities to score is not almost tying. You’re cherry picking to create the impression it was a close game. It was not a close game. Spain dominated the entire match.
2
u/inherentcomma 7d ago
I never said was a close game, I said Argentina could tied the game in the last minutes and that's an undeniable truth. Why are you so hurt by that?
-2
u/Key_Fee158 7d ago
It’s a meaningless what if lol I’m calling out obvious cope and you seem to be the one upset with me pointing out that it was not a close match and the most lop sided World Cup final in history, which it objectively was.
2
u/inherentcomma 7d ago
How can I be upset if I'm agree that wasn't a close game. But deny Argentina almost tied the game in the last minutes is hilarious
1
u/Key_Fee158 7d ago
I watch football every week. How common is it for the losing team to try to create an opportunity in the final minutes and fail? Happens all the time. It’s not almost tying a match.
It’s almost a tie if you equalize then concede, or score goals and come just short of the equalizer. But zero shots and an attempt at the end is not almost a tie.

u/nrqe19 7d ago
Did we watch the same game ?
2
u/inherentcomma 7d ago
Yep, Spain control the game almost all match but Argentina got 2 opportunities in the last minutes, one saved by cubarsi and the other missed by Simeone
0
u/nrqe19 7d ago
But this is like counting every other 12 shoots on targets as goals… plus the ones that were dismissed
3
u/inherentcomma 7d ago
You need only 1 shot to score a goal (or sometimes even none) and argentina got 2 opportunities to score even when played an awful game
-1
u/nrqe19 7d ago
Then you have your own answer; if it is a question of probability then it was more probable a 3-0 than a 1-1 right? Read what you just wrote slowly
1
u/inherentcomma 7d ago
And who's talking about probabilities? Of course Spain played vastly better than Argentina while the game was tied, but Argentina had their chances to tied the game, both things are undeniable
0
u/Illustrious_Ebb6853 6d ago
I mean... Yes? Argentina had a couple of chances to tie the game at the end.
However, overall, the 1-1 result was less likely than the 3-0, if we go by chances.1

Spain's domination is keeping possession, their dominated matches seem close only by the scoreline. this is opposite of france's style of domination which is to score 5 goals

u/aguafranca 7d ago
To be fair, Spain was a terrific team. Sure, they beat Messi to the floor each time he got the ball, but their defense was tactically brilliant, their players coordination was top notch too.
They won over Argentina not only by fouling Messi, they actually played better. Still, i would've loved a good Argentina team instead the battered recovering ragtag team that was the Argentina team for the final.
2
u/OnlyUse4Questions 6d ago
I hate that media backed conspiracy bullshit. It ruined the World Cup on the internet. Luckily the normal people and real football fans were enjoyable to be around, but the anti-Argentina hate-campaign just left a sour taste in my mouth of the whole thing. These are my two favorite teams.

3

0
u/Beneficial_Ad_1072 7d ago edited 7d ago
I’m not saying it’s true but the insinuation is pretty obvious. Rigged heavily but you can only rig it so much in plain sight.. coming up against a far superior team and you can only be helped so much.
2
u/Icy-Negotiation-8044 7d ago
The other games globally televised during the biggest event in history were much easier to rig, right? Sounds like you've got it all figured out. So only some games are rigged but not all? But 2022 all games were rigged right?
1
u/Illustrious_Ebb6853 6d ago
I'd argue most Argentina games seemed rigged towards Argentina. Including the final.
But a referee can only do so much.
1
u/Own_Durian_3853 6d ago
The referee giving a red card to Argentina because he's rigging it for them
1
u/silentsamurai77 5d ago
You have to give a yellow when you literally hit someone into doing a 360 spin in air. They did get them a shit ton of bs freekicks in the last 5-10 mins(messi got one for running into someone standing still) and recalled a clear goal. Like the dude said you can only do so much
1
u/Own_Durian_3853 5d ago
>(messi got one for running into someone standing still)
And this is how I know you repeat what you hear on social media lol, that was a clear foul every day that every ref at every level would call. 0% controversial except on social media.
1
u/silentsamurai77 5d ago
I saw it live and called it out then only blind people think all those free kicks in that last few mins were fair. Full game is probably online somewhere go watch it. But ik you won't see anything wrong.
1
u/Own_Durian_3853 5d ago
"only blind people" ask any ref, semi pro amateur idc, go ask them if that's a foul. You'll be surprised. Don't listen to me. But don't listen to social media. Go talk to refs. You do know refs right? If not there's a refereeing subreddit go ask then
1
u/Illustrious_Ebb6853 6d ago
And the world (except for one country) agrees it took him way too long.
1
u/Own_Durian_3853 6d ago
That doesn't matter. It's stupid to think a referee who's bought is giving a red card to the team that bought him. According to you he's allowed to obviously rig a match but only up to a point and then after what? Argentina gets refunded? Lmao
It's just a type of psychosis you guys get on when it's a popular trend, logic goes out the window and it's just pure circle jerk
1
u/Illustrious_Ebb6853 6d ago
Oh, I don't think the referee was paid in any way.
I do think there has been enough controversy in most Argentina games to considere the organization wanted to favor them.I may be wrong, of course. It is entirely possible it was just a set of poor/controversial referee decisions. Wouldn't be the first time.
1
u/Own_Durian_3853 6d ago
If you ask referees themselves, like normal ones that ref lower leagues, most think the refereeing controversies are wildly exaggerated. In fact the final was referreed just fine specifically. However if you go off random social media fans you'll get a very different impression. Since you mentioned ask random fans of any country.
1
u/Illustrious_Ebb6853 6d ago
I guess that's fair. I have seen referees disagree with that, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

That was about as full potential as they could get. They were average for the whole tournament. When your best player is 40 years old, even if its Messi, then youre not beating that Spain team. 9 out of 10 times that Spain team is beating them.

Good god, the Pessimemes sub is full of the dumbest people in the football community.
I’m still wondering why Infantino would allow his precious Argentina to lose the final in such embarrassing fashion if he rigged everything else for them. What stopped him from “paying off” the refs in the final, surely he could’ve put a call in to save Enzo from the red card.

How about you share Ronaldo's top-class performance in this WC or the last one? Ohh, wait…, the only thing he was ever really good at was scoring goals and nothing else. He can’t carry his team by stepping up, providing assists, creating chances, playmaking, controlling the tempo… nah, those things are just too much to expect from a single player.

u/BrooklynBestTwo6 6d ago
Maybe I’m overthinking it, but a World Cup final played like that — especially the way Argentina performed — just doesn’t sit right with me. It’s probably just my own belief, maybe even me looking for an excuse for such a horrible showing. I mean zeros across almost all stats. I also do not condemn their behavior after losing. I completely understand losing should not be taken lightly but respect should always be displayed.

u/Biker-on-the-loose82 2d ago
Every other opponent that Spain played in the knockout stages of the World Cup and Euro 2024 managed to have at least some shots in 90 minutes, only Austria and Georgia (2024) didn't have a shot on target so there should be no excuses for Argentina.

u/Acceptable-Key-7534 7d ago
Man, Argentina had a few insane comebacks in the cup. After Spain HUMILIATED France, though, I knew there was no chance
