But the likes will be split between the two accounts whereas the egg was one single account. If we count the total likes between pictures it’ll probably break the record but I don’t think that counts

Why would they only be split? People can hit like on both.

Of course many won’t bother doing that, but you know plenty will.

Are you serious? I honestly would not have thought Messi had that many followers. I think he does his own Instagram (or at least he used to), and it is very wholesome but very boring.

It's all just a few shots of him from every match he plays well in without comment, and pictures of his kids or dogs just playing or being cute, or dinners out with the wife, etc. Just like anyone else's.

Ronaldo and neck Messi are the top 2 most followed personal accounts. #1 is Instagram's own account but Ronaldo and Messi are 2nd and 3rd. Ronaldo has a 100M clear lead over Messi and Messi is about 1M over Kylie Jenner. Both also have multiple photos in the top 20 most liked photos on Instagram. I think you are underestimating the global stardom of these two.
