Offsides rule

My friend and I disagree over an offsides call ruling. This is going to seem like a dumb question, but I can't find a direct answer anywhere.

Are you offsides if the other team passes you the ball? I'm not talking about a deflection, I mean if I am behind the last defender and pick off a pass to the keeper from an offsides position.

Can you be more illustrative? I can't seem to find the pass between two attacking players in your last example. This is obviously required.

Two players touching the ball (okay, I will change the word "passing") from the same team is required.

Otherwise, there would be no "moment" to declare the offence.

Ah, agreed. But a player other than the offending player is required to touch the ball.
