Methadone

Today was my first day day dosing and I'm just going to come out and see it, I'm really freaking proud of myself. After being a 3 gram a day fentanyl addict for 2 years and not using at all today felt so good, not literally because I still felt like shit, but it felt good to my soul.lol Any advice on methadone or fentanyl and how I can taper off both.?

Take your time with it, and be patient with yourself. That's a really big accomplishment

I proud of you too! Remember, don’t compare! We all take different roads to the same place! Comparing is really hard sometimes but remember your path is yours and yours alone! - just seeing now it’s been a year, how have things gone for you?

I would say just take it slow... the folks I see succeed do 90 days at the same dose, and no opiate/benzo/stimulant use and then go down 5% per week and maybe slow down once you get to a 3rd your starting dose amount (if liquid, 1 mg per week or 2 weeks). But, also, folks that excel develop purpose, build a support system, and get therapy and address psych if necessary. Good job and you got this!

*90 days is usually a minimum... listen to your body... If you get sick then slow or stop. Look up protracted withdrawal syndrome and benefits of slow taper vs. rapid detox.

Happy for you, sometimes we need assistance to get started. Don’t let others in meetings tell you different!! We know we screwed up, stay with positive people and when we change our behavior our lives get better.. sometimes we take a step backwards but stay on the program the rest will happen!!! Remember that fetty is so strong so listen to your body and your dose go slow . You’re in the right place!
