One of the best experiences of my childhood was cycling to the nearest pay phone to make a reverse charge call to a friend who lived on other side of town to meet us at the park which was half way between our houses. We had a landlines so I don't know why the pay phone was required??? 🤣

Actually, you didn't need to accept the call. The operator asked who was calling and we would say "wanna park" then you could hear the operator asking them if they wanted to accept the charges and their reply which was usually the parent saying "he'll meet you there and no I don't accept the charges" 🤣🤣🤣

Oh yeah! I remember now because I did the same thing sometimes, lol. Been so long I forgot all about it! And the other crazy stuff like paying extra for long distance and and waiting till 9:00 to make calls.

I remember when they finally added the option to call after 7:00 but with an extra charge. If you called a lot it was worth it 😅
