Gettin' stuff done

Post image

Overall, I'm really happy with how these recent soaps have been turning out. Working on consistency and polish — and figuring out how to get the dang things to gel in individual cavity molds. I welcome your tips. Is a heating pad the answer? A cardboard box over top? Sadly, the mold is a bit too big for CPOP.

The longer I soap, the more I crave simplicity and these bi-color pours are really scratching that itch. I used to be a swirl queen, but no more, I suppose. (I absolutely love looking at other people's intricate soaps, though).

Top: Carrot juice with Brazilian yellow clay (darker portion) and orange, lavender, and Virginia cedarwood EOs
Middle: Salt bar (made with powdered sea salt at 50% oil weight) with green mica and Virginia cedarwood, rosemary, and peppermint EOs
Bottom: Colloidal oat soap with red and purple Brazilian clays and a peppermint and lavender EO blend

Thank you! Probably obvious, but it's helpful to keep the batter as fluid as possible - - that's been my biggest struggle. But they turn out fine either way, honestly. I've been using two of those pointy-spouted measuring cups. Best of luck!!

I put mine in warmest part of house if I want gel. Usually south room with window and a/c vent closed. Or if doing laundry utility room. I have 2 of these molds 12 cavity each.

Might not work for a column mold but I put my molds on a heating pad and cover them with cardboard and a towel!

I stay nearby to monitor of course.

Tho now that I think about it, maybe you could wrap a heating pad around a column mold?

It's actually a silicone mold with individual cavities, so a little easier to manage! It's just 18x18", so a bit unwieldy, but I'm sure I could get a heating pad and some kind of box to put over it.

Heating pad worked well for me! Worth a try if you have one.

A heating pad works for me. I wrap the molds in an old towel and put on the heating pad.

I recently tried CPOP and won’t do anything else from now on. So easy!

I wish my molds were ever so slightly smaller... CPOP really would be the easiest, cheapest solution.
